    Google has lobotomized their Google Assistant in favor of Gemini. Even though in Gemini, you cannot set timers. I have the latest version of this assistant and whenever I ask you to do follow up tasks or perform some of its basic features (defining words, adding to the current timer, listing features) Google Assistant simply does not work, says it doesn’t understand, or says I need to updated the app. Google, please add timers to your Gemini app so we can leave this one alone— need a voice assistant alternatively that can preform basic tasks outside of the traditional LLM use-case.

    Every time I try to download this app it says “verification required” I do not like it, please don’t make me do it. oh and did I mention you have to pay for it too, even though it’s free.

    Microphone quit in this app only. Intrusive Gemini advertisement that does not offer a “no thanks” option. I used to consider this a 4-plus star app. Now the relentless Google nagging has forced me to drop that rating to a 2. I now utilize Meta AI that is bit better although Aria is VASTLY superior. I could not clear the cache of Google Assistant so I just uninstalled this annoying / dysfunctional application. Google: You have gotten too big for your britches! STOP BEING SO PUSHY!! Out of principle, I will NEVER utilize Gemini.

    Can’t use shortcuts without being interrupted by AI ad. Forced to interact with the ad to proceed. I only use Assistant to control Google hardware. I am not interested in AI.
