It does like to crash on you and then you have to find one of the saved games and try again but then it crashes again so don't waste your money on this game
  • Great game but somewhat misunderstood

The mistake some people make about SMR is that they think it is a cartoon version of a tycoon game. If you really dig into the game there is much more to it. Try the terrain editor that can keep you engaged for months. The PC version is better only because of hundreds of mods available.
  • Ride the rails at least until game crashes.

  • A Simple Railroad Tycoon Game

While it is FAR from the best of the Railroad Tycoon or any tycoon game, this still falls in one of my favorite games as a kid. The colors are great and the game's UI is simple to understand. The trains are great too. As for other things, yes, this game is incredible simple. The economic manipulation and stock aspects are barely existent. The AI is a joke, because they will build random and unrational track over your track.

Fun game if I could finish. If I try to load a saved game it crashes. I can only play new games.
  • Still crashes too much

Update to previous review. Now that are several years on, the crashes continue. From what I gather from some boards is that it is a memory issue. For whatever reason, the game simply has memory issues and funny things happen. Trains suddenly change tracks, adding a new stop on the same line gets a message you have to switch to a new track (though you do not have ti). Then a crash. The saved game is then corrupted and you have to start over from an earlier save. Hard to recommend this. And nothing is ever heard from emails you send in with crash reports.

This game quits for no reason. I've tried to send emails to Apple and Ferel Interacrive with no response from either. I even bought a NEW Macbook Pro and it stil QUITS for no reason. Why can't Apple and the Developer get together and FIX this game
  • works, plays and runs fine with no problems

I got this game on the pc and it doesn`t work right right without a cd exe fix and now I got it on the mac mini m1 16gig. And it works just fine with out any problems no lag no crashes. Plus you gotta have your setting just right too for it. For being a so called cartoonish type game its not really that cartoonish at all and its way better then R.R.T. 2&3. I love playing game if i`m bored of playing other games.
