Description

Keep your mind sharp with word and logic puzzles from New York Times Games. Free to download, the app offers new puzzles daily for every skill level. App Features and Games: NEW: STRANDS Our latest game lets you find hidden words and uncover the day’s theme. It’s the word search you know, with a twist. WORDLE Play the original Wordle — created by Josh Wardle — in our app. Guess the 5-letter word in 6 tries or less, and analyze your guesses with WordleBot. SPELLING BEE Is scrambling your strong suit? Play the daily Spelling Bee and see how many words you can make with 7 letters. THE CROSSWORD Subscribers can play the same daily puzzle that’s printed in The New York Times, in our app. Crosswords increase in difficulty throughout the week. CONNECTIONS Group words with a common thread. See if you can do it with four mistakes or fewer. SUDOKU Looking for a numbers game, minus the math? Play Sudoku and fill each 3x3 set of boxes with numbers 1 to 9. Play a new puzzle every day in easy, medium or hard mode. THE MINI CROSSWORD The Mini is all the fun of The Crossword, but you can solve it in seconds. These word puzzles don’t increase in difficulty throughout the week and feature simpler clues. TILES Unwind while you match elements in the day’s pattern — the key is to make consecutive matches. LETTER BOXED Create words using letters around the square. Letter Boxed is another fun way to test your word-making skills. STATS Track your progress for The Crossword, Wordle and Spelling Bee. For The Crossword, monitor your average solve times, see how many puzzles you can solve in a row, and more. Plus follow your streak on Wordle, and track how often you reach each level in Spelling Bee. LEADERBOARDS Start a friendly competition with The Mini leaderboards. Add up to 25 friends to see who can solve today’s Mini puzzle the fastest. PUZZLE ARCHIVE Subscribers can now solve over 10,000 past puzzles from Wordle, Connections, Spelling Bee and The Crossword. DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS: You can purchase a monthly or annual New York Times Games subscription. I would love to be able to see all of the groups of words I have guessed correctly and incorrectly for each puzzle. It’s fun to walk through your thought process for each guess with your friends.

Takes forever to load and even reloading app doesn’t help. Please advise.

I grew up solving the Gray Lady puzzle with my grandpa every Sunday. I really enjoyed being able to work through a puzzle in the morning with this app, and Wordle was great for a quick fix. However, the woke crud that creeps into even this stupid app is just ridiculous. These people just can’t help themselves. I should be able to get through my morning coffee without having to read the made-up word “cis.”
  • Love this app, but…

I enjoy doing puzzles and love this app. I paid for a subscription to access the crossword and archives. I especially like the sudokus. My complaint is that there are days when the sudoku rolls over to the next day in the early evening. So if I don’t get to the puzzles before then I have lost the chance to do that day’s puzzles. And there is no archive choice for sudoku. Please don’t rollover to the next day until midnight like all other games apps.

Really? It’s 6 pm Saturday night and they take away the Saturday puzzle. Nothing like strongarming people to purchase instead. No bueno, NYT.
  • Please fix dark mode

I appreciate the newly added dark mode feature, but it is rather confusing that you need to select this setting on every individual game, and that the landing page is only in light mode. Can NYT please update so that there is one universal light/dark mode setting that applies to the entire app? Thanks!
  • Not good on iPad mini

Layout on iPad mini needs to be improved. Too much screen space taken up by clues. Make the puzzle bigger, add an option to use the Apple Pencil. Don’t need to see the full list of close when solving.
