Why does the athletic app not see that I’m a NYT subscriber? I pay like $40/mo for NYT & NYT recipes. Waste of money???

Appears to have cornered the market on most of the great young writers, at least in Michigan.

Great content and writing. I love the ability to follow teams and leagues, but it’s frustrating that I can’t follow individual Women’s Super League teams. I can follow Chelsea men, but why can’t I add Chelsea women to my favorites? And why can I follow the English Premier League, but there’s no option for the Women’s Super League? I appreciate all the great writers, but would like to be able to follow my teams more easily.

I am subscribed but the app will not allow me to login. The error message asks me to email them but there is no easily accessible email address or link to customer service. I will be cancelling my subscription after several years of reading the Athletic daily. Good journalism but the app itself is unusable.

Writers and overall content dropping rapidly since NYT purchase.
  • The worst

Try cancelling! Good luck - then if you try and renew at a much lower rate, they charge your card BUT won’t let you log on. So unbelievably frustrating - no wonder why they’re in trouble

And live in a big market area, your teams probably each have a full time beat writer. If not, you‘ll probably have one writer split between 1,2 or 3 teams. Or perhaps no beat writer at all. In the past, the San Jose Sharks had two quality beat writers in succession, but the second was “dropped” by the Athletic, even though he produced excellent work. Then crickets for a while. And now we have 1/3 of a beat writer working on the LA Kings, Anaheim Ducks and the SJ Sharks. He’s an excellent writer, but it’s not really okay. All that said, the Athletic continues to produce top rate journalism, articles, scoops, in-depth coverage, breaking news, and is IMAO worthy of a subscription.
  • PLEASE STOP MAKING ME SEARCH FOR THE SPORTS CONNECTIONS GAME!

I’m really frustrated. I like the game and presumably you want readers to play it. So why do you bury it??? I’ve just spent 20 minutes scanning Athletic stories, hoping to find the game. No luck. If you *wanted* this beta to fail you could hardly be doing a better job.
