I hope the NYT will never be a bystander to the regime undermining our 250 year old Republic no matter its threats to the fourth estate.
  • Worthless subscription with ads

You can’t really call yourself a leader in news if you can’t even offer your readers to pay for an ad free experience. This completely cheapens your offering.

I start the day with NYT news and games, especially the spelling bee, and continue checking news during the day and yes, sometimes at night too. Subscribed to many of the available programs and. reviews. I read in depth accounts and stories, all well written. Wouldn’t be without it, not to mention the daily recipes presented in a humorous way. And there is so much more, time permitting. As I said, I wouldn’t be without the NYT. A super investment.

  • Professional journalism matters

It remains the case that we need detailed information and a regular habit of reading it- curated ethically and imaginatively by folks committed to the craft of journalism - is one of the most important kinds of individual or communal wellness that a human can pursue. Professional journalism is indispensable. The overstated and vague sense that the New York Times is biased - either toward neoliberal corporate interests at the expense of the left or toward the left at the expense of the right - must be corrected: the answer is to read the New York Times, cross-reference it with Jacobin, or the Economist, or your favorite “I miss the old days” podcaster, and then have a conversation. But it will be a conversation that - no matter your politics - leads you back to the New York Times. Not as a source for your opinion, but as a source for your knowledge.

  • NY Times essential to democracy

I wasn’t always a news junkie. But I have been since 2015 because of my perception that Trump — & those who put loyalty to him above loyalty to the constitution — is a threat to democracy. My daughter gave me a NYT subscription, then I was able to continue it at a bargain rate, now I pay the full price. I trust the accuracy/truthfulness of the writing, & I love the quality of the writing, especially Maggie Hagerman’s. There are interesting features, love stories, movie & book reviews, etc., but that’s not why I subscribe. I subscribe because the NYT holds Trump accountable for his words & actions. I have concerns that our precious democracy is at risk, as Trump — who makes no secret of admiring dictators — seeks to undermine the judicial & legislative branches. Thank you for “speaking truth to power,” even as there are attempts to undermine freedom of the press. You’re doing important work!
  • Update caused problems

The latest update has introduced a number of issues. On my iPad when I touch PLAY all I get is a mostly blank screen, a good morning and some words telling me to come back and play tomorrow. There is no access to the actual games. Also in games when you play the mini crossword in landscape, there is no Arrow available to get back to the main screen for games. You have to turn the iPad to portrait and then back to landscape to get the back arrow. Please fix.

I’m so done with this app and the invasive glitchy ads and all the bugs that will never be squashed. Putting up with this garbage app isn’t worth it anymore, sorry Spelling Bee and Connections, I’m so done.
