Unable to download app. Had it before and enjoyed it.

I once LOVED Bible Gateway, but not anymore. Since upgrading my iPhone and using the new iOS, I've faced persistent issues with this app. It frequently fails to start, which is entirely unacceptable! As an annual Plus Member, I am seriously reconsidering my renewal once my membership ends. This app is simply terrible!

I’ve run out of patience. I get halfway through reading the verse of the day & I’m immediately interrupted by a pop up ad for a video game. The ads can be long, and sometimes don’t have an option to close, so I have to close & reopen Bible Gateway to get back to the verse. I know they offer a paid ad-free option, but this is ridiculous & I’m done. They need to come up with another way of advertising income stream other than the annoying pop-up ads. There’s plenty of other Bible apps out there.

The ads are obnoxiously long, if you need money charge subscription or charge 10 or $20 for the app but make a version that doesn't have these stupid ads so that the little bit of time you have isn't taken up watching trash game ads, that you don't want.
  • Still shows ads even with a subscription

I paid for a subscription to BibleGateway+ on the promise that the app would stop showing ads. It’s still showing them. On top of that, some of the ads are for women’s fashions that border on pornographic.

This app never works correctly. Many times when I open to look up a verse I get a blank screen. Also I have a paid subscription and even when I’m signed in the app says I need a paid subscription. Canceling my subscription.
  • TOO MANY ADS

Sad to leave Bible Gateway after having this app for more than a decade. The ads are now too many and too long to tolerate. Imagine reaching for the Word to start your day and being besieged by long ads just as you get going into your devotions. Held off from deleting because all my notes are here over the years but it has become insufferable and corrupt. This kind of commodification is the stuff of distraction and the very Bible cautions us to “Beware of the devices of the devil’

The constant commercials in the Lord’s Book is bad enough. But now?? Some of those commercials go against the very “app” you’ve put together. App deleted but thank you for the lesson about what can happen if you are not diligent.
  • Ads, Ads, Ads

So unbelievable that they would play ads—with sound—upon opening a Bible app. Can you not see how that’s a terrible setup? Say someone needs a quick reference in church and pulls out their Bible app and it starts playing out loud, even when the phone ringer is silenced, not only disturbing everyone around but also giving the impression that you’re just watching videos or something… who thought this was a good idea? Besides all that, the app is very buggy with freezes and blank screens requiring closing and reopening. Uninstalled.
