Simple and super user friendly. Bit surprised recently when i could no longer change brush sizes but for how long i have used it, I’ll do pro. Wish it was a one time purchase but these days those are rare
  • Can no longer use extra brush and cut tools, and Paper Pro costs a yearly subscription now?

I’ve been using the Paper app for five years now for sketching and concepts. And the brush size and cutting tools that are part of Paper Pro have really helped. However, it seems like Paper Pro has changed. One day recently, it appeared that I could no longer use brush size and cutting tools. Apparently, Paper Pro is an $11 subscription now. I know the developer has to make money in some way, but really? At least make the other brush and cut tools free. That’s so ridiculous that you need to pay for getting a new brush sizing feature now. Now the free version just feels incomplete as is. Please change it so Paper Pro is a one time purchase, not a yearly subscription. Please also change it so the other brush and cut tools are freely available again, so all of the options on the Paper app can be useful for all consumers. Please and thank you.

Ugly evernote buttons taking up top part of the drawing canvas and you can’t get rid of them. Deleted this dumb app, used to be good years ago, before their Evernote sellout.

When I was younger, it was the only thing I used to draw digitally, and it was kind of my first experience with digitally art so I’ll try to go soft on it. Listen, if you wanna make really good high quality digital art, then it’s not for you. You’d be better off spending a couple bucks to get procreate or something better. But it’s not awful if you want something for quick jots or doodles. Then again, art may not be why you want this app. Maybe you need a new notetaking app. Maybe you want to have a place to plan your week or something. Even then, it’s not great. But I’ll rate it a three star for the sake of nostalgia. I actually deleted it a few years ago when I got procreate, but tonight I thought I’d get it again because one of my friends who is new to digital art loves it. (Thank you to that friend, even tho they don’t read these) so yeah. It’s not a great app, but not awful.

  • Great digital sketch pad, but starting to feel bloated.

Updated 12-2024 Due to some issue with sync settings, I just discovered that years worth of my painstaking sketches and notes were deleted out of nowhere- not just the iCloud synced files, but the locally stored files on my iPad, just gone. Totally inexcusable and wretched that something like this is even possible. Never using this app again. I've relied on this tool for about 2 years on a daily basis, as a true sketchbook replacement (and less frequently for big much longer)— completely swapping out my moleskins for this digital equivalent. It was a beautifully reductive interface for a long time, and I did not care even slightly that hardly any features were ever added, because it completely goes against the concept of a sketchbook to grow or change. Your work grows and changes, your notebook remains a notebook. Stability was always a bit of an issue, but the good far outweighed the bad. But this seems to be shifting slowly- they have been tweaking it and meddling with the core of the ui in small ways that do not feel nearly as purposeful or inspired as the original design was- the worst example being the recent removal of the basic cut/paste function, replaced by a persistent clipboard library, which never clears, unless you long-press and then separately delete each tiny clipping like an app.. for some reason. It feels like a solution to a problem that didn't exist, which just complicates the more common, basic operation of cut/paste and decreases the amount of usable screen space with the extra ui drawer layer needed to accommodate it. I want to be optimistic about this, as there is nothing else like it, but honestly wish I could just downgrade to the last version before this started and never update. Some things should change and evolve, but for a workhorse tool like a sketchbook, there is actually no reason, just let people get used to it and then leave it alone please.

So I saw this on YouTube and it had pretty good reviews but when I downloaded it, I noticed something that I did not like and that was it didn’t let me zoom in as much as I wanted it too because I like zooming in and drawing really carefully making my life straight and it was really hard to do that when it wouldn’t let you zoom and then when you zoom out, you would zoom out too far and it will exit you out of of your page and you have to altogether just kind of annoying thing to do so if you like to zoom I wouldn’t recommend this if you hate exiting it and going back in and all that stuff then this is not for you.
