  • lost its mojo

version 7 was great — but I find now the program has become less intuitive and more frustrating. I've been loyal for a long time but I may have to just stick with the native apple password in the future. The cost is too high for something not as good as before

This is an expected extension for safari. However, this feels less like an extension and more like a program. Could you try to bring down the size of the package? Is the icon really necessary in /Applications? it just adds to the clutter that is already made by Apple not allowing users to remove stock applications (not to be confused with simply the Stocks.app). If this is beyond your control, then ok. It’s still 3 stars compared to the extension for Brave.
  • Something has changed with Version 8 using Safari. Have to go back to Version 7.

I have used this app with no problem for many years, however with 1Password 8 I am unable to login. It asks for my ‘Key”. When I enter it. It doesn’t recognize it. Maybe it changed. So, I use the QR code which takes me to a message that says ‘This code did not match any documents’. Customer support used to be good, but I’m at a loss how to access 1password on my newer computer. Works fine on other devices.
  • Good app but SLOW

Overall, 1Password is a great system for password management. Unfortunately, the application is incredibly slow even on a very fast Mac, and can take several seconds to respond to anything I do. I'm not sure why, because no other applications on my computer experience this type of lag.

I have used 1Password for years and it works great on my Windows and Apple hardware.
  • Version 8 — Not Good

I have used 1Password for years. Using v8 with Safari has been the worst user experience. It’s slow and glitchy. Not uncommon that passwords will not show up or the 1Password syncing will break.
  • Completely broken for multiple profiles

The extension completely breaks when using multiple safari windows with different profiles, including PWAs added via the “Add to Dock” option.
  • Great if you need all its capabilities

I was an early adopter of this tool, in 2006, for personal use. It was super useful and enabled me to do things that would have required a bunch of services that did not exist. But now, it’s become so complex that I may not renew. Apple’s Passwords.app now can meet all my family’s password needs, and iCloud enables secure storage/sharing of critical documents. If you need all its capabilities, 1Pwd is great. But it’s become rather complicated for individuals who just want to follow the good practices of never reusing a password and keeping all passwords very strong. That said, it does what it says it will do, and it seems very secure.

  • Safari extension is really unreliable

The only way I’ve found that I can get 1Password for Safari to work is to right click on the icon in Safari, manage extension, and toggle it off and back on again. Which is an OK workaround, but a huge pain. I don’t know how much of this is on AgileBits and how much is on Safari being Safari, but as a user it’s just enough of a paper cut to be super annoying
