the import recipe from browser feature no longer works with ATK/Cooks' Country recipes. This functionality is primarily why I purchased the app on both my phone and mac.
  • One Big Bug

Don't get me wrong, I like this app a lot and use it almost daily. I have nearly 400 recipes built up in it. However, it has ONE BIG BUG. The app builds up temp files in the ~Library>Containers>Mela>Data>tmp folder and never deletes them. I wondered for a couple years why I was losing disc space for no reason. When I found these files, 25GB of useless temp files had built up. I have tried contacting the developer twice but he doesn't seem interested in responding or fixing the bug. Every time I use Mela I have to go to the above mentioned folder and delete those temp files.

Very glad I tried this before buying! The info about it says recipes can be imported by url from a website yet that is the one thing I need and the one thing it apparently cannot do. Yes, I tried everything in app and yes I googled. I wound up on the help section of Mela's own website and read all the import info and nowhere in there does it detail how to add a recipe to the app by importing a url from a website. I'm stumped at the good reviews on this app.

So disappointing. I'm a food professional and develop recipes for a libing. I bought this for myself anf my team, who are remote, and we're not ableto share. Weve written four time, and no answer. I want a refund.

Really Disappointing. The user interface is really well thought out. I have been using a similar app that has syncing across all my devices, but the UI is not the greatest. This reads as though it would as well, but after paying for both the Mac OS and iOS versions of this, recipes do not sync. I have tried inviting myself in the "Shared Recipe Collection" section with no success. just very disappointed in this app. Shame on me for not having read more reviews! Sounds like I am not the only one to experience this.
  • Like it, but...

I do really like the interface and syncing options. I've been using the other spice keeper app for a few years now. I tried importing 2 recipes from the web and Mela failed pretty hard. This alone has me at least waiting since that is an important function for me. I really liked the import scanning feature, but the couple hand written recipes I tried it on needed some work to fix. I felt like it needs some improvement in both of these areas. I did notice it said scan a recipe from a book, so that may work better, but I didn't try that yet. I also liked the Cook mode, although I use an iPad for that and both viewing modes looked great. I want to like this app, but there's a few improvements needed before I can justify converting. The star rating would also be a great improvement as I have used that in the past.

I can not export my files with an extension to open on any application on my Mac. Horrible app that I paid $9.99 for!
  • Pretty great, but needs a better grocery list function

The grocery list needs to be sortable by recipe and by aisle and needs to automaticallly combine like items. This update would put this app solidly in 5-star territory

I wish this app would calculate the nutritional info automatically based on ingredients and number of serving.

This is a wonderful app. We're getting our family's recipes into a format we can easily use and share with the kids. SO well-designed, it's a joy to enter recipes and use for cooking. One thing I wish: When editing, would be helpful to be able to view the image or scan as a reference when initially creating the recipe.
