  • Best cooking app, BUT —

I absolutely love this cookbook app! It’s the simplest and most beautifully designed cookbook app on the App Store, and it’s so affordable. I do have a few suggestions for improvement. It would be great to add safeguards to make it harder to accidentally delete recipes or other items, or at least include a way to recover deleted content. Customization options for colors in the menu and background, as well as the ability to add custom covers or choose from in-app designs, would be amazing. I’d also love the option to share public links to my cookbook or specific recipes in a way that others can view but not edit or delete. Being able to create multiple cookbooks within the app, select which recipes to include, customize their order, and add interactive features like tappable links or stickers to navigate between recipes would make the app even better. Thank you for creating such a fantastic app—these updates would make it perfect!

I’ve tried at least 10. And Mila is the best of the bunch.

Not just my favorite recipe app, this app is so well thought-out, simple, effective, and beautiful. It is a very fair 1 time purchase, and the browser feature turns website that my adhd brain can’t even read into simple, elegant, organized instructions has helped me become excited to cook again. I’d like to thank the developers for this absolute masterpiece of an app, and I wish every app I used followed this design philosophy.
  • Only an iOS subscription, Mac subscription is extra?

From the description in the App Store, it doesn’t mention if this is a cross platform purchase or not – I thought it would be. But to my surprise, when using the Mac app, and trying to do the restore purchases option, it says that there is nothing found. So if you’re hoping to use this across your Mac and iOS devices, it looks like at least you’re my experience that you’re going to have to pay twice to get the Mac App as well, which is a huge downside in my opinion. I think this should be more clearly displayed in the description, especially since it mentions things like iCloud syncing, which would obviously be the most handy going between your own devices (Mac/iOS).

I was terrible with cooking and ended up ordering in all the time, but this app changed that. My one piece of feedback is that it would be nice if the calendar events mela makes was the duration of the recipe instead of a 1 hour block. It would help schedule ones day better.
  • Gorgeous, but falls a little short

First, the best things about it… (1) look and feel: so good. It’s the kind of app you WANT to a reason to use (2) camera for recipe capture: I use it to pull quickly recipes out of my beloved cookbooks The limitations… (1) Paprika, which I have used for maybe a decade now, has a really nice “pin” location where you can collect recipes you are considering or actively working on. It’s easy to access- especially while cooking multiple recipes at once. Mela doesn’t have anything like this. Cook mode in Mela DOES have multiple recipes, but the UI for this is flawed and more importantly you can’t scale recipes in this mode. Kind of worthless honestly, bc of that. (2) Groceries also has some real limitations compared to Paprika. As far as I can tell, you can’t manage multiple lists (like multiple grocery stores). Summary: Very pretty app, with one piece of functionality being next level (camera capture) but the rest of it falling short of the title holder in this category: Paprika.

So helpful for recipes discovered online and coordinating and sharing recipes with the family. I also love how easy this makes it to record notes and customize recipes.

This is a beautifully designed app, not just in the look but also the little details like how the app displays recipes on iPad. Life changing! It takes you from planning to the fork! Amazing! Get it and buy premium ASAP!
