I don’t know if this is accurate, the bug I photographed is about 1/8” long, not nearly the .5 inch described

I gave this app five stars because I use it a lot and it gives you lots of fun also it is good. It is cool too and I think it doesn’t need any improves even though it gives you too many choices of which bug so you’ll have to guess which one it is but who cares about that? it is also fun to learn about bugs. It tells you if the bug is harmful not hurtful or benefits.

I’ve been using Picture Insect for several years now, and I find it absolutely indispensable as it means to alleviate concern over insects in my home, and as an educational tool to understand insects I encounter outside. I am working on a children’s book that involves all kinds of insects and this app is also an asset in that project. I am no longer afraid of the wolf spiders who frequent my home, but simply capture them and put them outdoors. Whenever I encounter a beautiful neon yellow writing spider, I do everything I can to protect them. I just found a deer tick in my bed and though my cat is an indoor cat, he’s a suspect. My son contracted Lyme disease a decade ago, and is still battling it, so identifying ticks immediately is important to us. Thank you for a wonderful app!!!

I got this app for my garden and I use it much more than I thought I would. It’s kept me from getting rid of helpful insects and alerted me to get rid of harmful ones.

I love this app. Every single time I see any kind of bug the first thing I do it take a picture and pull out my app it’s fun. And it’s really good to know if certain critters around your area are poisonous, especially if you have kids and are outside quite a bit.

  • Helped my identify fruit flies

I had a bunch of small flying bugs in the kitchen & bathrooms and didn't know what they were. I thought fruit flies but I've searched the house high and low and haven't found any rotten fruit or anything so I have no idea where they're spawning from. Seems like from thin air because when I kill one two or three more appear. I thought maybe I was wrong about what it was so I downloaded this app and was able to scan one after killing one. The app did identify it as a fruit fly but most importantly it gave some helpful information on what the cause is and several options for treating them other than the fruit fly traps I've been using. This app is great. Update: this app is still super helpful. I have bi monthly pest control service treat my property but I found a random dead bug I have never seen before so I was able to scan and identify that it was an American cockroach (yuck). I’ve never had cockroaches before in my 29 years of life or at this specific property in the 7 years I’ve lived here so luckily thanks to this app I can inform my pest control service and get on top of it. The last thing I want or need is a roach infestation.
