Description

This beautifully designed app makes reading and navigating the Small Catechism easy and convenient. • Multiple translations • Optimized for readability • Designed for iOS • Share via Twitter, Facebook, and email About Luther’s Small Catechism Brief, clear summaries of God’s Word allow individuals and families alike to use Luther’s Small Catechism as a powerful tool and prayer book. Though the catechism was written by Martin Luther in 1529, its question and answer format provides Christians with a timeless and easy-to-use guidebook that is applicable to all the various callings we have in life. The Small Catechism explores the Six Chief Parts of Christian Doctrine: the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, Confession, and the Sacrament of the Altar. It also includes daily prayers, a table of duties for Christians, and a guide for Christians to use as they prepare to receive Holy Communion.

…to me since I have diminished eyesight. The slide to size the font doesn’t make any difference. The slider moves, but has no effect. Very disappointed.

They charge for the “most recent” edition. They give for free only a tiny bit. Details & going deeper requires paying. That is not mentioned in their marketing materials & feels insincere & scammy. Be better, Concordia. At minimum be upfront & honest about your product. This was a quick deletion after seeing its lack of usefulness

God’s grace through the sacrifice of his only son is free… this app is not. Get behind me satan, for you are causing these little ones to stumble!

I am very disappointed in our church that you cannot navigate parts of the Catechism without paying concordia publishing house $7.99. It shows me what is most important. Not education and understanding, but making a quick buck.

Stumbled across this and downloaded it right away. Pretty excited to be able to have and hold the small catechism everywhere I go. I already used it once while waiting in line with my five year old to run through the commandments.

Please implement an option for Dark Mode in this app – for people with vision challenges, this is an accessibility issue, not just a visual preference. Thanks! Also, it would be great if the "Language" section in settings provided an option for the earlier 1943/1965 English translation, to complement the 1986 English text in the current version. Finally, the “Data Used to Track You” section is rather concerning. Why does this app work so hard to track the user, who may be a child?
  • Unhappy.

Now I don’t usually leave reviews but this one just rubbed me wrong. Really un-happy with my app experience and do not think it’s biblical to sell it. It just reminds me a lot of what Paul wrote to the Corinthians. Can’t remember where but it’s early on In 2 Corinthians and he emphasizes not being peddlers of God’s word, but out of sincerity. Now I understand if it’s to cover the cost of running an app since those are expensive. But couldn’t they just put a donate button within the app. Other than that great user friendly interface.

The paywall is very unfortunate. Monetizing on this seems tacky.
