App suddenly closes. Needs an update.
  • Not what I was hoping for

With the name “InPrayer” I was hoping that it would include prayer resources. There is nothing included with the app download and the resources available for purchase are devotional in nature (so probably some prayers included, but seeming to be more Scripture focused).

You’ve combined readings from the Daily Lectionary from Lutheran Service Book with readings from the Book of Concord! Great! Thanks!

This app is a handy way to keep Portals of Prayer and Today’s Light devotionals always at hand. They include the scripture text for the day’s devotions; allow you to select any desired date; and include the multitude of prayers for special dates and events in Portals of Prayer. The price for these devotionals is quite reasonable, not sure why so many expect these materials to be free. One complaint: the subscriptions are not eligible for family sharing. If I had purchased a print subscription for these devotional items, my family would share amongst ourselves, so very aggravating that the app version does not allow sharing. And one suggestion: make more materials available for the app. Specifically, the small catechism (not as subscription but a one-time purchase) would be great; also subscriptions to Martin Luther’s “Day By Day” and the “Faith Alone” daily devotionals would be appreciated options. Hopefully these two items (family sharing and additional subscriptions/purchased materials) will be added over time. CPH, are you listening??
  • Constantly crashes

Consistently crashes before I can even read the daily readings. It’s the most updated version of the app and I tried restarting my phone, nothing helps. This has been going on for weeks.
  • 18.1 compatibility?

Update: Ok, now I know what everyone is so upset about - add me to the list. PrayNow is a superior app and it has been replaced by this unusable app. Glad I still have PrayNow on my phone!! InPrayer requires purchases of everything and doesn’t offer the same devotional content as PrayNow did. InPrayer is unstable - crashes upon opening after last update-hope it’s fixed soon! I guess I’ll look elsewhere for daily devotions, sadly.

Crashes on load, rendering the app useless.
  • Good content—Poor execution

So the thought is nice. I like having all my info quickly available on an iPad or iPhone but getting the software to cooperate and not crash is the problem. I can’t actually rely on it to be available when I want to use it.
  • Overall I like it

This is a convenient way for me to have access to Portals of Prayer devotional and also the Treasury of Daily Prayer. There are other devoptionals as well which you can access with a yearly subscription, but you must pay for each publication separately. What I would like to see is a feature similar to the Hallow app which focuses on prayer itself, and guides one into prayer. Using writ prayers from Luther and other Saints, psalms, etc. Also, it would be nice to have hymns and chants available to listen to through the app in audio files. I know I'm probably asking a lot, and this would probably run into a lot of money, but it's just something to think about if CPH would like to improve the app.

Adding a charge to the Pray Now app took away my ability to use it as a part of outreach to neighbors, etc.
