I have been using the iPad to read the Chicago Tribune for years. I have been having trouble with it on my iPad for the past few months. I have done a lot of troubleshooting and still I am only able to open it sporadically. Very frustrating,

The app continues to post retry on a frustratingly regular basis
  • Ads move the text around, no dark mode

When the ads load, the text you’re trying to read jumps around. And there is no dark mode. Hurts your eyes when reading at night. Not a pleasant reading experience to say the least. Also some articles have a listening ode but many others do not.

No balance and no fairness. Tribune is a parrot for left wing tripe.
  • The pop up ads are beyond annoying

Even for a paid subscriber the pop up ads are frequent and highly obstructive. The worst I have experienced. The advertising needs to be more organically woven into the reading experience. It’s close to unreadable from a user experience. It’s. Awful.
  • Easy read for subscribers

Overall is fairly easy to read the daily paper as a subscriber. The latest version fixed issues with reading individual articles on iPad. You really cannot save individual articles of interest. If you try to print you can’t capture the full text of an article.
  • Politically left as usual.

The tribune is one of the most trusted news sources IF you want a total leftist point of view. Also they are consistently supportive of the most corrupt and entrenched ruling class of politicians in the country. Witness years of tax hikes and budget shortfalls galore, not to mention one of the highest gun violence cities in the country, Chicago. But hey let’s give these politicos a pass and support and get them voted in again- and again, and again. Sheesh.
  • Annual subscription continues to not work

I continue to contact the Tribune to fix this issue. I am only able to view one article per month for an annual subscription of $199. I continue to follow the instructions and “remedies” to fix the problem, but nothing works. This is a huge waste of money. I will cancel this subscription if this continues.
  • This website is THE WORST

I actually didn’t renew my subscription because the website was so bad—old articles and bad technology. A lovely salesperson talked me into a 26 week renewal and I am sorry I agreed. The $1 I paid is not worth it! I can’t log in (it tells me I don’t have an active subscription, when I log out and try to reregister it tells me the email is already in use.) I can’t read any articles because it says I hit my 10 per month limit and I must subscribe (hello death loop!!!) Your customer advocacy group (Abigale) is of no help.
  • Poor viewing on IPad

The last two updates 10.0.19 and 10.0.20 have ruined the article margins on iPad.
