I like using this app but it needs a couple changes. The iPad version doesn’t work in landscape. If I use the map while my iPad is attached to a keyboard, all of the controls are not in the right spots and not the right orientation. It would also be nice if we could turn off the visibility of the routes on the map to get a cleaner map that I could take a screenshot and markup to share with ski touring partners.

I do a lot of hiking and snowshoeing in the backcountry and this app has made life so easier to find trails or just places I can go because there’s so much private land around here. Best way to find out where to go and track your routes!
  • Zero stars shameful business practices

I want to cancel my subscription. The site is interestingly difficult to find where to cancel, and instead of having it front and center in settings or the account I get sent to articles leading you to no where or a contact page that who knows how long will take to get an answer. Shameful business practices. I wasn’t even going to cancel just change my membership type. But now I will cancel and let everyone I know to avoid them. *I was able to cancel my sub through the contact email. So I have added a star for the company response. But the app/site still needs to have responsible access to cancellation information.
  • Landscape Orientation on iPad?

REALLY? No landscape mode? My 13” iPad is mounted in my overlander employed in landscape mode as it is too big to mount in portrait, using onX Offroad to navigate me to trailheads and camp locations. I really enjoy it, so I just purchased onX Backcountry online for my hikes/ climbs only to open the app and find it doesn’t work in landscape mode??? I never would have bought if I knew that and as it is 2024, who would even expect THAT silly limitation! Can someone contact me so my 10 year old nephew can write the code for you? Update: and now app keeps crashing while I’m creating hikes, loosing all my work to that point. At least when onX Offroad crashes it brings me back to the point of the crash. So, backcountry is useless to me. Too bad, because it could be good. Asked for refund and received. Hopefully this app will be better in the future.
