  • New update NOT operable

The new update won’t allow me to sign in to the app. It’ll ask me to sign in again and when I do it tells me that there’s another version of Messenger that is currently open (which I dont) and then it prompts me to start over. Ive been doing this over and over again to no avail.
  • Keeps crashing after about 1 minute

It doesn’t matter what I do, the app seems to crash after about 1 minute of use. This is on a brand new, out of the box M4 Mac Mini. Even with recent updates it still does this.

I am trying to use this on my MacBook and it just fatally crashes every time. Ridiculous piece of garbage
  • Stability, stability, stability

I used to have 2 issues with Facebook Messenger on my Intel-based Macs: 1) Performance (using a lot of CPU and RAM) and 2) Stability (frequent crashes. Since I upgraded my last Mac to Apple Silicon, the performance issue are gone, but wouldn’t you know it…it still crashes very frequently. I’m typing this on an M4 Mac mini and halfway through writing this, I got a pop up that the Messenger app had quit unexpectedly. Very on-brand for the Messenger app to be this buggy, for this many years.

Not sure what has happened, but lately most thins I receive say they cannot be viewed on the computer and I have to use the mobile app. So what is the point of this being a desktop app any longer?

Don't know why. They show in my browser and on my phone but not in the desktop app for my Mac. They used to. Something broke.

Used to use across all devices, but this version for mac crashes avery few words, rendering it totally unuseable. It does not sync well and the frequent crashes have me looking for other messaging options and may be ust the thing to cause me to stop using Facebook itself as without messenger, what is the point?
  • It just never works. Ever.

I've always had issues with this app but try to check it out about once a year/every other year and always delete it, but for different reasons. The new thing is: it will not log in. Right now I'm being told my account is temporarily unavailable and to log-in elsewhere. I don't want to log-in elsewhere. I want to log in here. That's allegedly why this app exists. My account is definitely available because I'm looking at it by iPhone and 2 different browsers. Completely useless.
  • Needs feature parity with mobile app

I've been using the desktop app for years now and I'm a big fan. I love that it's directly integrated into my Mac, with notifications and all. My only complaint is it’s missing features that the iOS/Android app. For example, it’s missing formatting and the Meta AI that has been in the mobile apps for a while now.
