  • Great App, but Also Wish…

    I enjoy this app so much, love reading all the comics even from the first issues released! One thing I wish the app had was a night-mode or dark mode so that I can read the comics with a dark background. I tend to read zoomed into the panels, I pay attention better that way for me. It just bothers me that some panels have a black background covering the blank space and majority are white. I find the white background too bright, especially at night when I’m reading.

    It’s a decent app overall, fills the bare necessities needed for reading comics. I do have two feature requests, that would improve the app. 1) is the possibility of notifications when new issues come out. 2) A better way to “subscribe” or track series. Making list is fine but there’s a bunch of series I would love to easily follow, rather than dump them all in a list and then move them around. Either of these features would be a great edition to the app!

    Signed up for the ultra membership, app wouldn’t load the basic level comics let alone the “ultra” level. Contacted support, only response was to reinstall the app, which I tried maybe 20 times before contacting support. Just trying to read some comics on an iPhone 14 Pro.

    This app is organized poorly and is really buggy. It's sometimes hard to find and follow storylines, something that should really be addressed given how headache-inducing it can be to find a suitable reading order. I'm no UX expert so I won't go into detail but it feels like it could be much better organized, too. Maybe by character or something. A tree with all the timelines and characters or something like that might be useful. Comics should totally start back over at the beginning once they're finished, or there should at least be a button to do so. Choosing a page number would also be appreciated, combined with a way to quickly scroll through each page. As for performance, downloaded comics buffer and randomly toss you back to the beginning (which is super annoying with some of the longer pieces, especially without a way to quickly return to your place). the app crashes if the cache gets too full, which I'd rather not have to manually manage. It's obvious that this app wasn't made with any vision, they just tried to slap something together that would work, which I think is a disservice to the writers and artists who made the comics in the first place.

    I think it’s pretty scammy the way DC handles these subscriptions. To do an annual subscription plan, you have to go on their website and sign up. This makes it much less visible or clear that you’ve got an ongoing subscription. The alternative is doing a monthly subscription via the App Store, but there is no annual option, so you’d be paying much more for the monthly subscription. They should add the annual plan to the App Store so we can manage it easier with more visibility. Seems like they either want to be shady and let you forget your plan ran out, or charge you a significant premium for subscribing via the App Store. Blah, I don’t think I’ll be renewing.

    Clean, easy to navigate, and offers a way to save favorites and create lists. My only non-complaint is that I’d like more options for App Icons to display on your device (Green Arrow?)

    In theory this is a great service, but it’s handled terribly. I have purchased the ultra monthly subscription twice now, the first time it didn’t recognize that I had any subscription, and I was only allowed the free comics, and when clicked on an ultra comic, and it wanted me to upgrade I pressed the subscription, it tells me I’m already subscribed to that. I cancel and resubscribe to ultra monthly, just to only be alotted the premium tier, again I press upgrade and it says I already have ultra monthly. This is absolutely ridiculous.

    I really do love dc but this app has it’s problems compared to marvel unlimited the app has more bugs where it crashes for some weird reason and I won’t be able to read my comics until a whole hour it zoom in option is ok but it’s very messy in a way where if ur phone is tilted just a little bit the screen rotates and it goes black so u have to close the app just to be able to read ur comic again
