  • Sold with subscription

Mapstr was one of my favorite apps to use, very user friendly, easy to navigate, as well as any bugs fixed quickly. Yet with this new update making the app subscription based and only allowing 300 places to be uploaded before having to pay really disappointed me to see.
  • Over the top pricing

I use this app regularly, I would refer all my friends to it. Now with the new pricing, I will no longer be using this. What they are charging for something that I can essentially save on other maps, the extra features that this provides does not justify the price. I’m not sure how they expect to grow their users now, I will be leaving and moving over my shared locations to a different platform. It looks like they have an intro video now to explain the pricing changes, but the video doesn’t even play and just glitches the whole time. Poor rollout, user lost.
  • Charging for more places?

I’ve been using this app for years to save places and they’ve never charged a penny. All of a sudden I log in today and they want me to pay to have more than 300? I am pretty sure I have over 300 in NYC alone. This is so dumb and such a bad customer service move. Shame on you.

Will be migrating addresses over to another application. $140 per year is highway robbery. Shame
  • Shameless cash grab

Great app… until management got greedy and wanted to charge over $100 a year just to keep your addresses. I moved everything to a different app. Makes me sad because I loved this app, if they get rid of the premium then I might come back!
  • Not worth it anymore

I loved this app until they decided to start charging $112/year for more than 300 pins. I have 636 and now I have to transfer all of those somewhere else because I won’t pay that much! I have recommended so many friends to this app but I’ll have to let them know that I’m moving on because it’s not worth the cost.

Today Mapstr has died. Love the app and have been using it for years, but putting a cap on amount of addresses unless you have a premium subscription AND also making it insanely expensive is a crime. Ruined the whole aspect that everyone love about the app: it’s inclusivity. I’m super disappointed, just can’t use the app anymore. Really sad to see

I’ve used and loved Mapstr for years saving restaurants and parks for roadtrips and memories. After the update they put a limit of 300 places for free….i already have close to 500… which means I can no longer add new places until I pay $150 PER YEAR subscription. In this economy, who’s able to spend an extra $150 on an app that’s been free for a decade??? I guess this is good bye mapstr.
  • Subscription is not the price of a coffee

I completely understand that they need to pay for the cost of the servers for users’ map data, and I was prepared to pay the actual price of a coffee, but $20 a month is not that. I wish they would introduce a tiered pricing plan depending on the number of places you have stored. It’s 20 times as expensive as what I pay for iCloud, which stores many gigabytes of data. I think these apps overestimate how much a user cares about AI (I don’t care at all, and I don’t want to pay for your company’s costs to integrate it). I actually would prefer to see user-built data instead of AI-generated data. Fwiw for the actual price of a coffee, I’d come back in a heartbeat.
