I was on Sittercity for years with no issues, I had many background checks run that came back as clean, which were out of pocket by the way and very expensive. And I had multiple 5 star ratings from families who were very satisfied with my care. Then out of the blue I couldn’t log into my account and I contacted support. When they got back to me, they told me my account had been removed from the platform and listed generic reasons for why this happened. I emailed back asking for specifics because I didn’t fit any of the criteria, and they said they couldn’t give me specifics but my account being banned is permanent. A big slap in the face because I recommended Sittercity to many parents and caregivers which I will not be doing anymore. This was my only source of income as a struggling full time college student with a random class schedule. Very dissatisfied with Sittercity!

I just started using this app to find a babysitter and it isn’t very user friendly. A lot of things can be changed to have a better experience. For example, viewing the reviews of a sitter and writing a review of a sitter. When someone messages about a job post and you click view applicant the option to view their reviews is not there. You have go back to their profile from outside the messages and tap the reviews under their profile picture. To write a review you would think it’d be public automatically right, but it is not unfortunately. I wanted to leave a review on an applicant and the only option was for private viewing? Like what is that about? When I contacted the support team they wanted the name of the applicant to assist me with leaving a public review. I was beyond confused at that point and just decided Sittercity has a lot of changes to be made and it is not for us. Care.com would never!

The website is laggy and it’s difficult to access on a cell phone.
  • Applicants are not certified for New York State

To care for a child in New York State , you must be finger printed and have certification in Infant and kid CPR. None of the applicants can give me proof of those certifications. Also I can’t see the reviews of the applicants on the mobile app. I see the start ratings but I can’t click on them to see the comments. I made the mistake to pay for the year subscription for uncertified applicants.
  • Allow your sitters to reply to parents’ reviews

It’s not fair how parents can review sitters and give their opinions and sitters are not able to tell their side of the story or defend themselves and as a result we get a bad reputation.

Hi I would love to use this app but when it requires to show proof of ID I have allowed ALL camera access and it just opens a black blank screen with the instructions on how to show your ID properly but will not open my camera

I’ve created an account and a page I was then creating my profile where it asked me to verify, Myself so I uploaded my drivers license then it asked for face recognition verification. Which I did but I didn’t work it then proceeded to kick me out of my account and I can no longer sign back it, because it will not let me. Very unpleased with this app!

I’ve had this app downloaded for months and I’ve reached out to several families with no responses. There’s never any new jobs or postings in my whole county. It’s been the same ones for the last month. Stick to care.com you’re better off!

This is the worst app to find a baby sitter is too expensive and you don’t find the help you’re looking for. Sitter are rude or just ignore your messages when they’re the ones who show interest in your job. I only waste it my money twice thinking that I only signed up for a month but instead I was charged for the next month just because the app wasn’t specific enough. So don’t waste your time either.
