There are some good shows but themes are repetitive.

Enjoy these everyday if available. Do wish you had a better system for showing what shows have unwatched and new.
  • Updated App is Useless

This iOS app (and its tvOS counterpart) has become totally useless. While Acorn may offer a variety of quality programming, it is currently unwatchable because both apps now make the determination that I am outside of the US! The last time I checked, Chicago was definitely in the US, and my public IP address clearly reveals that. I have reported this issue to Acorn support, but it seems they are the most incompetent and useless group with which I have ever dealt. It is now almost one month since this issue was reported. Each time I raise the issue again, I am asked to answer the same set of questions about the issue (most of which would have no bearing on the issue), followed by “we are sorry for the delay, but we are currently experiencing a high volume of requests!” Right! There seems to be no indication that this issue will be resolved any time soon (I had no issues with the previous app version, either on iOS or tvOS). So I would recommend anyone interested in British programming to migrate to BritBox…with marvelous programming and excellent customer support. And their apps seem to be able to properly place Chicago within the US!
  • Great shows; terrible app

Acorn is wonderful and if you get a subscription through Amazon prime everything works well. But the solo app is awful. Over the past two months I have not been able to get it to work on my iPhone at all. It has an error where you can’t login and keeps prompting you to sign up for a subscription. On the TV it’s very glitchy, stops play or freezes, and can’t fast forward.
  • Poor

Usually watch this on my iPad. Won’t load shows, always get a beach ball but will easily load trailers and play them. They tell me it’s Apple’s issue with not paying Acorn for my subscription. Funny it’s only Acorn this happens with. No one cares to fix it. Part of watching apps is that they work all the time.
  • NOT COMPAT W/ LIGHTNING TO HDMI

Super sad to leave a poor review for Acorn. App is NOT compatible with Lightning to HDMI devices (Apple or otherwise) which is the ONLY option I have to watch it on my TV… It WOULD be one of my faves, instead of having to CANCEL subscription. *Acorn, PLEASE become compat w/ this option of viewing. I’ve read many others complaining with this issue, as well. Thank You!

The series I have watched on Acorn deal with adult themes in a complex way. The acting is superlative

I always watch Acorn TV. I m in love with the mysteries & drama. Pretty much everything on the app is a joy to watch. I was very happy to see that the shows Google recommended I had already watched. You will not be disappointed with Acorn TV. I recommend this app to all my friends & family ;)
  • Latest update made it worse! Broken on AppleTV, awful support

Update: The April 2025 update broke search on Apple TV. Terrible app. The Acorn does not integrate with Apple TV AT ALL. The continue watching feature does not work. Playback is broken on the AppleTV streaming box. Trying to play an Acorn title from Apple TV's universal watchlist simply results in a spinning icon on a black screen, no playback. Apple TV universal search finds things in the Acorn app, but since you can’t play from those search results or even use continue watching, it’s useless. Fix this, Acorn!!! In the months since I posted this, it’s gotten worse. Now the universal search on Apple TV doesn’t find programs available in the Acorn app at all: it only shows results from the “Acorn TV channel” that gets purchased through Apple. So for direct Acorn subscribers, search doesn’t work at all. This is a deliberate choice by Acorn: Netflix does the same thing, intentionally. But Acorn isn’t big enough to play those games with subscribers. Tried Acorn TV support, but they were useless. Unless this company can get their act together, fix their app, and take their customers seriously, it’s time to cancel.

Acorn has the best selection and variety of shows. Everything I tried has been incredible! Murdoch Mysteries was my reason for starting and I’ve never stopped! A must get app!
