  • I rely on this app, but it makes me feel like I’m losing my mind

I use Ride with GPS all the time and pay for the premium version because I need a tool for planning rides. So I'm very familiar. But I feel like I’m living in an alternate universe from people who describe it as “easy to use.” The interface is clunky and unpredictable, and the app often feels like it’s trying to fix a crooked painting that re-crooks itself every time you touch it. Basic tasks unravel in absurd ways. I try to shorten a route and set it as an out-and-back — suddenly my starting point disappears. I re-add the start, and now the end point is gone. I go to reset the end point, and tapping the map doesn’t do anything anymore (as it's instructing me to touch anywhere on the map!). I’ve had whole editing sessions where the route keeps snapping back to some bizarre detour, no matter how carefully I try to delete or redraw it. Or I’ll brush the search bar and get stuck in a loop where the keyboard pops up when I don't need it. If I click out of the text box to return to the map, it pops back up the second I've clicked out of it. I'm sure I could improve in some ways but these kinds of errors are clearly bugs– usually when I click out of a text box, I'm not hoping for it to eagerly spring back to fill the screen as soon as I move away. I’m not anti-tech — I’m the person people go to when the Wi-Fi breaks — and I want to master this app. I’ve even looked for tutorials because I’m genuinely willing to learn. But this doesn’t feel like a tool that rewards patience or skill. It feels like something that’s always fighting back. I’ll keep using it, because I have to. But every time I open it, I brace myself. And every time something basic breaks, I wonder why I’m the one doing all the work to get it to function — especially given how much I pay for it. So I just wanted to make a shout into the void. I'm yoked to this app, and for the subscription I'm paying, I wish someone could make it run more intuitively.

I started using the app a few years ago. Day by day, step by step, it keeps getting better. Keep up the great work!!
  • Waste of a Subscription

I upgraded my Ride with GPS subscription ahead of my Kokopelli trail ride. The app worked fine until the downloaded route and maps stopped working. I was left without any route information or base map until I found enough service to get everything working again. I used this app for years as a free service. The paid subscription is a rip off - don’t do it.

2025 and still no dark mode. Is Strava finally updated. How much longer will they hold out unless have been working on a modern redesign all these years since looks very dated still.
  • Great ride guidance

I love this app and it does a great job with navigating rides. I generally plot routes on the computer though, and sync to the phone. There does seem to be some variation in calculating metrics, for the ride and for the intervals. Average speeds sometimes don’t work out.
