I have found this to be the best flight sim game on the App Store so far if you are into the feeling of "flying" and don't mind a simple intuitive interface and decent graphics. It's definitely a challenge to land properly on the Carrier, but it's very rewarding when you make it! The aircraft and details are good enough (considering the excellent price of this app!!) and I especially love the wavy outline of the aircraft as they sink in the sea if you crash in the water! Nice touch! The absolute best thing about this app, in my opinion, is the ability to use my iPad as the controller. I agree with other postings here that it's too bad we don't have direct control of the rudder, but I really love having the major cockpit instruments on my iPad screen along with using the iPad as the "yoke" to control the aircraft, as well as change the views and look at the basic map information. It's a really great part of this sim to me, and one of the things which makes this flight sim head and shoulders better than the others as of this review. Price is excellent for what you get - a perfect impulse purchase! If you are on the fence about whether or not to buy, just get it. I don't think you will be disappointed. It's great for a 30 minute gameplay in the middle of your day to let off some steam and then get back to work! Two wishes I have: that some of the island land details were improved now that we all have much faster Macs in front of us than when the game first came out. Also perhaps add other aircraft flying around and landing also (controlled by the sim, not other players necessarily, to keep the cost down) that we could try and fly to and take a look at or perhaps (accidentally) crash into. Whatever you do, RORTOS SRL, please keep this game up to date - it's a gem!

This game requires some patience but the results are rewarding. I initially made the mistake of just rushing through the quick tutotrial before trying to land and crashing time after time. Now, after almost giving up on this game, and ignoring it for months, I’ve finally landed the propeller plane. I went back and repeatedly played through the full tutorial on how to land, which was quite enjoyable. Landing speed needs to be 170 knots, then down to zero upon touchdown with the air brake applied. It’s important to realize that this is not an action game. What seemed boring at first is actually the process, which becomes more interesting when using the manual controls. My next mission is landing one of the fighters.

It is disappointing how few flight simulators are out there now for Mac platform. Considering that fact plus the low price on this one makes F18 Carrier Landing a really nice choice - it reminds of old-school simulators from Microprose (like F19, which I LOVE), even though it’s far simpler - but still not that simple to become a mindless arcade. The missions are challenging enough and varied enough. The graphics aren’t very good but good enough for the price. Of course there could be more missions, but again - it’s so cheap I can’t really complain. Considering that last missions take 10-15 minutes for a try (and you can fail multiple times) it will take you an hour or two to beat the game completely, and that’s sufficient playing time I suppose. Still I wouldn’t mind a couple of DLCs though. Also there’s something appealing in the fact that very same game to the last details is available on iPhone and iPad, even thoug I’m not sure if accounts are synced between platforms (looks like no - that’s not good actually). I was playing it at my laptop all the time, but once had to use public transport for longer time, and le voila - could get a “like home” feeling by playing on my iPhone the very same game I play at home. I’m looking forward to see Rortos porting their other games to Mac, Air Navy Fighters in particular - because I actually want to be able to shoot stuff in this simulator (-: But again, I’m quite satisfied with the experience. And last but not least - it’s actually nice to once in a while play a game where you don’t need to destroy things and wreack havoc. Just saying (-:

Barely better than an arcade game. After about thirty minutes of play, I deleted it from my system.

nicd playgame…not only in macbook, but, further more, in macbook with iPad-remote controlling via wifi but there are two more points i want to present, one is when using iPad-remote via wifi, can’t use virtual cockpit again, the replay just can make a screenshot, but, unfortunetly, can't save as a movie play as a whole
