  • Great App, but also bugs to report

    Update: A great app but there are still noticeable bugs. A trail I did in Yosemite automatically got titled as if it was a trail in Washington. That trail in Washington is one I look at frequently so probably some kind of cache issue. It’s worth saying that while doing the Yosemite trail the app was navigating appropriately, but titled the activity incorrectly. A good app but also two bugs to report: 1.) I recently got a new phone and despite the summary saying I have 9 activities for 55 miles this year, all the actual activities are missing. And in their place is one non sense activity for 0 miles, 0 minutes, etc. 2.) Even if I select hiking when initially logging an activity, it seems to always default to “scenic driving.” I have to update later if I want it to be correct—and sometimes that doesn’t work. Additional request for the backlog: I would love to be able to search the reviews of a hike for a keyword like “mosquitoes,” “bear,” or “spikes.”

    Wow I love all trails. It has almost any trail and will show you where you are in your hike on or offline and show the elevation changes for the entire route.

    AllTrails is one of my favorite apps, period. It’s so helpful for finding ways to get outside and hit the trails in any medium and at any fitness and skill level. It’s also very helpful for finding your way if you get lost on a trail.

    Love being able to download, preview, and track the hike via the trail map functionality. The user reviews are easy to access and use. Photographs are simple to upload. Great app for all levels of hikers. For me as a beginner, being able to obtain prior information about a trail helped enormously before starting on it.

    I have relied on AllTrails offline maps on many occasions along with my paper map and it has been easy to use and reliable provided the phone battery charge does not run out.

    One of the best trail apps that I’ve used to date, very easy to use and thorough for everything from the trail descriptions to directions to plug in directly to you gps of choice, trail and weather conditions, and maps of the location etc. Overall it works great for all the trails I’ve been on using it! The gps tracks right along with you even in low to no cell service areas on the map so you can make sure you’re still on track, or (although I haven’t used it), you can have it track along with you just like a regular gps. Definitely an awesome way to find trails you never knew existed in your area, and when you’re trekking and traveling around in a new area!

  • Hitting back button resets the search. So frustrating!

    If I am searching an area on the map or with word search, when I click on a trail I’m interested in, the click the back button at the top right, 9/10 times it resets all searching and just displays the “Explore” view like I just opened the app. This is an extremely basic workflow that has not functioned correctly for many months, maybe years.

    Do this hike. Cliffs and green sparkling water, well marked trail, raptors soaring overhead and even a fox and a sheep herder with a flock of sheep! Swinging bridge, delight for the eyes around every corner.
