    FIVE DOLLARS FOR THIS?!
  • No longer feel safe using

Without a paid membership, I can no longer see the attendee list. Not even group members. This does not make me feel safe attending an event alone. This is a terrible change.

Good for meeting new people. Raised price recently. Unclear on what improvements they made.

I’ve given up using the app as it’s always crashing. It used to work okay so no idea what’s changed. I’ve gone back to using the website.

I notice that meetup now wants to charge individuals to see who is going to an event on a monthly basis. Most of us don’t go to enough events to justify the amount meetup wants to charge (almost $5 per month). Besides, it’s fun to see who shows up when I arrive.
  • Aggressive Monetization ruining the App

Recently Meetup has hidden attendees from users’ view in order to sell a new intrusive subscription. This is obviously a move against the spirit of the app and puts users’ safety at risk for monetary gain. As an event host I know we have seen less growth and more safety concerns from our attendees since this change.
  • Nearly a waste of time.

It’s just a crummy way of meeting people in your age bracket(or even better, a range bracket) which is ultimately what you want to do bc online dating doesn’t work. It’s a self service app so meet up isn’t intended to do anything more than what a user wants to do but, it doesn’t fulfill what I see is the major point of “meeting up”.

I’ve been using it since 2009. It’s a great way to meet people who share the same quirky hobbies as you.

We used to be able to message attendees and people in group. It’s no more after an update and also I didn't get email notification when a new event was created. WTH is going on…
  • 20 years and still the worst app in the App Store

I’ve never seen such an incompetent deployment of an app but at least 20 years later they still have same stupid glitches. And now you get to pay $10 a month for what? Nice bait and switch. I’m looking for a new group platform.
