I’ll give it 5 stars when they go back to the version that lets you see people and chat for free
  • Recent changes ruined it

Meetup used to be a great app, but the recent updates to the UI and the new paywall money grab have made this app trash. $5/week is absolutely ridiculous. Whoever is responsible for the changes that have ruined Meetup should be ashamed of themselves. Do the right thing and bring back the old Meetup we all used to love!
  • It’s not even the right state

The app can’t detect location… and it’s not easy to figure out how to change that
  • Beware allowing this app to do popup notifications.

I was at work a few days ago with my phone in a public place. I’m not sure if it was a joke or serious but a pop-up came up on my phone about a small orgy event. I am deleting this app now because of this but want to leave this review to warn other people. I’m not sure if this was a joke or actual content from Meetup but for me this is absolutely unacceptable to allow a pop-up like that, and I don’t wish to be on an app that promotes groups like that.

You are no longer allowed to see photos of people in your group unless you pay $4.99 per week. Creates a dangerous situation because you no longer can see a face of who should be at an event
  • Used to be great, now Becoming greedy

I used to love meetup. The organizers pay to run a group because they love bringing people together for free or little cost. It’s the only app nowadays where you can see the participants which is important to the people who use it. The twin cities is not a huge place if you get me. Women want to see participants for safety. After meetup started doing ad pop ups that are difficult to close, it’s become extremely difficult to navigate and frankly has turned me off from the charm of Meetup in general. Why are organizers having to pay and now attendees also having to pay to enjoy it? This is a recipe for disaster and I’m already noticing group organizers dropping out because of lack of attendees.
  • Upgraded to stability after years but cons

Probably the most organised the app has ever been, and the RSVP-to-phone calendar connect is finally perfect! However too many pop ups regarding upgrading, and blocking out attendees from view is also inconvenient. People like to see who’s also attending an event .
  • Rip off

Used to be a good app. You could see who was going to an event and likes, groups, etc. now meetup won’t let you see much without you paying extra. It seems like every click you have to pay to see.
  • This is turning into a dating app….

Meetup started as great way to do events with people but now they are turning it into a dating app by hiding users face pics and inability to message one another unless you have paid services. Stupid now and the app is loaded with bugs
  • This app used to be decent

Now it’s filled with spammy ads about a subscription for services that used to be free.
