You must give out your bank card # even for the one free preview! I am willing to give out name and email but if you say it is free then why bank card #??

Sent an email that will take 2-3 business days. Come on guys! I have seen the trial. I now can't get off a trial and its shut off. When i sign in, there is no way to pay. I canted them and you needed to do it through the web site. Kinda silly. Also I hope they add interactivity for crosswords et all. Like USA today
  • Great example of how to go from print to iPad

This app is great - and a must have for road warriors or expats that want the globe. I think many people rating/reviewing are confused with the registration and activation. Globe people - you need to fix this, it is confusing because once you register you are taken to a generic news listing page in a browser (not the app) and it isn't immediately clear what you are to do when the app is first launched. Also - the subscription pricing is too high if you want wide adoption upfront. Should be lower for new readers and free for existing subscribers (just my opinion). Lastly - why only 7 days back for back issues? Storage is cheap and the issues are relatively small in size, why not provide a month or more? All this said - great execution by the Globe...many other print media companies have provided junk in their first attempts.
  • Great for expats

This is going to be great if I can get the full G and M here from the USA on the iPad. The newspapers here are junk compared to the GM.

Those only giving 1 star for this app are having trouble signing up for the 14 day free trial. You need to read the registration page carefully. Underneath the normal registration is a link for the free trail registration. Yes, they don't make it very obvious, but once you're registered the app works wonderfully! I've seen a couple of minor bugs with the article titles and links, but nothing major. After the trial runs out you have the option of subscribing monthly, yearly or just buy the paper on-demand for 99 cents. Love how you can pick the edition you want (BC, Alberta, Ontario etc) and you get email notices when the issue is available for download. Photos need to be enhanced as they are of poor quality when trying to zoom in. Good start!

The worst designed news app I've seen. Confusing and glitchy. Pages are changing on there own in portrait mode.
  • Is this really free?

I was wary of installing this, because although the description says the app is free, it doesn't say the content is free. The first thing I encountered after opening it was boxes with vague messages referring to vaguely defined options about registration and an account. It wasn't clear what you'd get (or not get) by choosing either option. I'll probably just delete it.
