App has been a great help but whatever they did (or Apple did) that created the flashing VPN has been an absolute pain. Do better and get the issue fixed because it didn’t used to have an issue and the fixes are all temporary and inconvenient.

I did absolutely everything in my settings to set this app up and it kept saying “something went wrong” it also keeps insisting on only using my safari app which i never use anyway i use google chrome; incredibly frustrating and outdated app please if any of you developers read this please please please reach out and fix this at once so i can do what i must. In the meantime this app is absolutely useless.

Love the product when it works. Blinking VPN issues makes phone unusable. It’s time to get directly with Apple DEVs and get this fixed. People are going to start moving to something different.

Have used this service for over a year and while I am 100 percent behind the mission and the need for accountability (the associated Victory app is amazing and I cannot recommend that enough!), the execution and overall quality has gone down slightly since starting subscription service. The monitoring constantly flags false positives, fails to screen cap in certain circumstances, and makes all internet usage slow or intermittently unavailable. To that end, the blinking (oh, the blinking…the endless…blinking…) VPN connection issue in the mobile app is less of a lesson in making better choices, and more a lesson in wanting to put down technology altogether. If THAT alone was fixed, I would give this app/service 4 stars easily.

Great App but drains battery quickly and limits the most basic search even restricting access on Zillow

The enemy prowls around like a lion ready to devour and destroy. It doesn't matter how decent you, your husband or children are. If you are human, the enemy will attack you. Sometimes slowly. Sometimes suddenly. Covenant Eyes is a gift from God that should be required for internet access by anyone. Mom’s: wake up! If your kids have unprotect internet access, it’s almost as dangerous as unprotected s _ x outside of marriage. Your kids are under attack! Let the amazing CE support staff patiently walk you through the (sometimes detailed) steps of getting all of your devices set up safely. Definitely do both the accountability AND filtering. Unfortunately, the enemy has videos on the internet designed to teach kids how to hack the filters, etc., so, I’m it’s important to set this stuff up, it’s critical to spend 1-on-2 time with each member of your family (ideally each week). We try to do a weekly mommy date & daddy date with each kid, a mom & dad date night and a family movie night each week. We do our best to have family dinner together 5-6 nights/week. The consistent 1-on-1 and family time together each week has helped, over time, all of our relationships to get better. As parents, it’s important that we balance the “growth activities” with just hanging out and doing something that’s pure fun for your kids—whatever they are interested in. The other day, I spent about 30 minutes with my teenage daughter in the makati isle at Target. The LAST place I wanted to be. BUT, being there, with her—where SHE wants to be—engaging with her, listening, staying off my phone and choosing to use the moment to repeatedly express to her how beautiful she is without any makeup “like her mommy” while affirming that it’s perfectly fine for her to buy and wear makeup if it’s fun for her, builds trust and our relationship. Just being there, in their world—meeting then where they are without trying to fix/change them—helps build relationship. Also, admitting my faults and apologizing and sharing things I’m working on to help myself be a better person/husband/dad—all of this helps them see a REAL person, a RELATABLE person a loving, kind and non-judgmental person. And, THIS helps them have a better relationship with their Heavenly Father and be more likely to trust both Him and us enough to reach out in times of questioning, doubt and the inevitable temptations of life. Update… Many years later, still the BEST!

As many have noted, this update unfortunately doesn’t do anything positive. The VPN makes almost every website unusable. I want to use safari or duck duck go… I hate using your clunky (and that’s saying something considering I want to use safari…) browser. Won’t even let me get to the homepage of Reddit or any of my really bad subs like r/telescopes. Also, this is an easy app to cheat. I won’t say how (in case other users haven’t figured it out, and better a millstone be tied around my neck, right?..), but you don’t even have to turn settings off to look at porn. Ridiculous app that costs a lot to turn your phone into a worthless piece of junk. Thankfully I’m not the one paying for it… but… I’m going to tell the guy that I am accountability partners with, we should look into other options. Update: 9SEP24 - got an email today saying they updated for apple and how it’s good to go. I downloaded again, wholly willing to and hoping it will work. I can’t even get past the safari extension portion of set up. Went into settings, follow all prompts, and end up with a message saying oops! Something went wrong. If this app works for you, good deal, but again, this app that promises so much freedom, fails in its ability to actually do so. Update 9DEC24 - was able to reinstall and get it back running. But I’m having problems with connectivity and the VPN this app uses. Constantly disconnects my WiFi, will have the little vpn notification come up before it reconnects. I have all my apps updated and iOS as well. Again, conceptually this app is good, but in practice, it’s fallen short from the beginning. You wanna stop looking at porn? Downgrade to a dumb phone and get outside. Don’t rely on tech to make things better. This is how we die… with a whimper and your piece in your hand, praying an app is gonna do the work for you. Update 16DEC24 - Still have the same connectivity issues and then the whole password nonsense where I couldn’t log in for days (that they did fix) This is one of the most frustrating apps I’ve ever dealt with. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app on a regular basis isn’t a fix, that shouldn’t be something a developer requires for their app to work. Maybe for android this works, but for iOS they’re nowhere near what they intend or promise. I’ll continue to struggle using it for the sake of my accountability partner. I have been in contact with the team at cov eyes before and they know that this has major pitfalls but due to the way iOS works, they can’t do anything about it. That’s not “their fault” but again, seems like false advertising on what they can actually provide on this platform. I hope people actually read this book of a review because this isn’t a cheap service, and for us apple users, it doesn’t truly do what they say.
