Yes! Keeping track of my food intake and weighing once every 8-10 days helps me to maintain the weight I’ve lost this year. Back n bladder issues, so more sedentary than most people. Was 4’11.5” 165. Now 134/132. Can’t get rid of stress. Was 152 now 12/21 146.8

Calorie counting is good, it works if you keep doing it. Two years ago, Lose It worked ok, but the pop ups were getting in the way. I finally gave in, thought its reasonable to support the app with a yearly subscription. To my surprise, right after buying the yearly sub, I mean right after, 🥁🥁🥁 I got a pop up for a lifetime subscription. Since then, I got the occasional lifetime sub pop up during that year. Why review it me? Forgot to delete it and got a pesky notification to try the app again. Good reminder, thank you, counting works, but I’m going to search for an app made by an indie dev who is actually passionate about weight loss than upselling at every turn.
  • Good, not great

Dec. 19, 2024 The response time to pull up the app, entering information and I t being recorded is much better than several years ago. However, more speed is always desirable. Not needing to wait three or four seconds from the middle of the day and later for it to respond is desirable. Also, removing redundant items in the database and fleshing out nutrition info beyond calories alone would be a major improvement as well. This is a good app that could be great. I have used it for years and found it easy to use, and helpful to track nutrition and other health aspects that are important to me. However, I remain disappointed that they have been unable to fix, at least for more than a few weeks, a continuous bug that requires me to reset The weight goal every time my weight changes. I weigh daily and there are frequent fluctuations. I am not necessarily trying to gain weight, but as I lift weights I am not opposed to gaining weight with increased mass! Each weight change of any amount and the app assumes I want to lose a pound a week. I wish you would not assume for me and require a daily edit. Secondly, if I did not have so much invested in this app in the way of custom ingredients I would switch to my fitness pal, which has a much more extensive database of restaurant foods, e.g, Domino's Pizza and Cracker Barrel. May 23, 2021 update I am happy to say the assumption I want to always lose weight issue has been corrected. Unfortunately, the time required to add each thing I eat has increased substantially. It now takes 2-4 seconds in the morning deteriorating to 15-20 seconds in the late evening. Finally, although the food database has improved dramatically, there are now fluctuations with several same items listed with different calories; many of which have no nutrition information other than calories. It remains much more reliable than the My Fitness Pal app, however. Time to log is now the major complaint for a good app that could be great.

Couldn’t get rid of the ad banner. It was there even when I left the app to go back to the main phone screen. I couldn’t delete the banner so I deleted the app. Didn’t get to use it long enough to see if it was a good app or not.
  • Paywall

I’ve used the app for years on and off. Moving free features to a paywall is unacceptable. Scanning items was a big reason I used the app, but since I can’t use it unless I pay I guess I’ll use another app.
  • Love the ease and the barcode scanner!

I’ve used them all—WW, MFP, Macros, I don’t think I can even remember all of them. MFP is definite close, but this one beats it largely because there are not so many wrong entries in here! Much more accurate, I feel. No matter what, though, consistency is key
  • Barcode scanner no longer free

I only used this over MFP because the bar card scanner was free. They locked it behind a paywall so I will no longer be using this app

This used to be great as a free app and even better as a paid app which I would subscribe to when trying to maintain goals. Now you can’t even scan barcodes without paying. The free version also blasts you with ads nonstop, to the point of being unusable. Ultimately I took advantage of the lifetime sale because I do use the app often throughout the year. But this is not a free app as the free version is unusable. Of course the day I purchase lifetime I found this ridiculous bug - my young son stepped on my WiFi scale and added a 60lbs entry to my weight. As soon as Lose It saw that it ended my weight goal reset all my daily calories to “maintain” weight and that was it, no more weight plan setup. I have to start from the beginning again. Deleting the weight entry removed it from my history but the goal was still lost. Didn’t ask me, no way of going back to my original goal that takes 10 minutes to setup with the questionnaire.
  • Good app, bad monetization of features

This app works well, offers great advice and support, but the continued push of services and app abilities to the premium service is absolutely ridiculous. I understand a business needs to make money, but I can’t SCAN barcodes unless I pay you money EVERY year??? Greed at its finest.
