  • Must-Have for Nursing Students

As I start my fourth block of nursing school and critical care rotations in the ICU/ED, this app is a must-have. My clinical professor has our clinical paperwork set up such-that we must fill out and an inclusive medication chart for every medication we give over the semester. I have only run into one or two medications that this app does not have, but for the ones that it does have, it provides all information necessary to feel comfortable and confident administering medications at the critical care level. Another thing that I truly appreciate about this app is that it provides medication category specific NCLEX questions. I have found myself doing multiple 10-20 question quizzes and studying what I was able to get right and wrong, remediating with the explanations provided. The only thing that I wish this app had was an in-app calculator for the medication calculation questions, but that is not necessary to use it successfully. In addition, this app provides the ability to take notes on certain drugs and save them in the app, which is something that I haven’t seen in other apps like this. By favoriting certain drugs that I use frequently, I feel more comfortable and can quickly recall information as I become a stronger nursing student/nurse.
  • Easy to use, up-to-date, and comprehensive

This drug guide app is easy to use, up-to-date, and comprehensive. The flow of tabs makes sense and each chapter has a table of contents. On the chapters, you can easily create a note on a certain part by highlighting and typing in the box that pops up. The new drug category keeps you up to date. The appendices on specific topics like scheduled drugs and abbreviations are brief and effective. The sections I liked the most were “quick study” and “practice the test” because it will show you an explanation for which answer(s) are correct and incorrect. The most useful content is the generic index that allows you to choose a category of drug to see their important details. One suggestion I can offer for this section is changing the list name to something along the lines of “generic drug list” for more clarity. Other improvements I can suggest are the aesthetics and interactivity. I think the addition of a variety of exam questions, games, and graphics would grasp the users attention for longer. Even though the NCLEX is multiple choose, questions aimed for active recall will have longer lasting impacts. I would also like to see test exam scores over time to visualize improvement. Overall, this drug guide app is up-to-date, comprehensive, and easy to use. I will definitely be using the NCLEX-style questions to practice for my future pharmacology exams and eventually, the NCLEX.
