  • Clutter

This most recent update changes the interface of the application rather dramatically from fast and non-cluttered to distracting and cumbersome. Ironically, this recent update departs from an intuitive and smooth mobile Ableton experience. The ability to choose the preferred mobile DAW interface is a useful consideration. I prefer the former application interface.

What’s here is good, but lacks basic functionality, e.g. no provision for step entry of notes
  • Love it but lacking

The learning curve is intuitive and logical. The GUI is so much more conducive to workflow compared to say garageband or gadget 3. I am into improvisation. Ableton Note makes improvisation seamless. Its a wide wide universe of sound and groove to explore. Each of us will put unique spin on it. dj jazzresin (or rez rez jazz on xvid) highly recommends this app. Thanks for the killer creation tool. Inspiration starts here!

I can’t describe how much it’s good. I use Ableton Love as my main DAW on pc. And I can just make some music on iOS and export right into Ableton Live, where I can make some fixes and release it! Must buy for all Ableton users.

Can you not just enter drum hits on a grid with a start stop button synced with link like every other app? I just can’t use a grid -enter notes-hit play?
  • Please add

2/22/25 Update: Ableton Note is a completely different beast now! I am currently on version 1.3 beta and the piano roll is one of the best experiences on mobile. They’ve also added 16 pitches for the drum rack which frees up the need for more than 8 tracks at least for sample based instruments. There is still an 8 clip limit per track but now you can have up to 16 bars per clip which is 128 bars per track, still a limitation for a sure but a much more workable one. The master track FX I asked for were implemented and they’re awesome! They’re listening to the feedback and it shows. I would still want to see a time stretching for loops and longer audio clips. An arrangement view even if it’s simplified. Longer song length limits PLEASE I know it’s possible. A fully featured synth even if I have to pay for it please or even support for mobile VSTs. Updated review 4/21/24: I’ll start off by saying that it’s so quick and easy to get my ideas out with Ableton Note that no other iOS can beat imo. I love the way I can collaborate with friends easily and move to my Ableton Live in a breeze. The included sounds sound great and high quality. The UI is what you would expect from Ableton and it makes navigating a snap. What I would like to see: -More than 8 scenes or recording session view jams to a simplified arrangement view. -Time stretching samples, even just a simplified version of what we get in Live. -Master track effects -Mobile ports of Operator,Analog, and Wavetable.

Every time I try to edit a clip or delete a clip, my screen freezes and I have to exit out of the app to regain control.
