I love this app and use it all the time. It’s so helpful to be able to store all my recipes from all over the web. Really easy to import recipes. It’s just intuitive, beautiful and so easy to use. I encountered a small glitch and emailed the developers and they solved it immediately. Ten stars!

This app is absolutely amazing, it does everything I need it to. It can import recipes from basically anywhere, you can add groceries based on those recipes, and grocery shopping with the app is also super simple and user friendly. Being able to share recipes and the grocery lists with family is also a huge plus!

No ads, option for one-time purchase, no bugs. All pros, no cons. A perfect recipe app. Should be more popular.

Umami is the best way to stay organized and approach cooking new recipes. It’s so simple to create meal plans, grocery lists, and make sense of ad ridden recipe websites. If you spend some time in the app, you’ll never want to use anything else in the kitchen

A very thorough and intuitive app that does EVERYTHING I was looking for! I found it mentioned on a Reddit thread and I am glad I did !! The import process is streamlined and simple. The organization of the app is stellar and the ability to create recipe tags for easy searching in the app is a great bonus. I also love the ability to share my “recipe book” with someone and we can collaborate. Another key point is the support! Jeff (the developer) was BEYOND helpful and very prompt in his replies to me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for everything about this fantastic app. Thank you!!!!

I have paparika on my phone and realized I had to pay for another separate version of it on my computer. Found this app and it’s really similar. However this app feels simpler without sacrificing function. Plus I can use the website on my pc to add recipes. The only issue I have is if I need potatoes for 2 recipes when I add them to the shopping list they are 2 separate items. Would like to see that combined. I’m currently in my trial period but once that’s up I’m going to do the $20/life. In a age of companies pushing subscriptions it’s nice to have the option to just outright buy the software.
  • So good! minor tweaks and it would be *perfect*

I’ve been using Umami for almost a year and I’m somewhat evangelical about it. I love being able to access recipes on any device, the import from photo function works really well, and importing from a url has been flawless. I’ve been able to digitize my cookbook collection, and I can’t tell you how valuable it is to be able to see recipes from every source (print, family recipes, and from online sources) in one place. I also love using the app while I’m cooking, especially on the iPad! Overall very very pleased :) Minor tweaks that I think would make this app perfect: - the ability to select a “cover” photo for the cookbooks (it’s just the most recent recipe pic right now…I’ve been adding dummy recipes with the cover I want but I hate using a workaround when this seems simple enough to implement) - a “ratings” category. I have a lot of recipes I haven’t tried yet, and I’d love to be able to rate them as I try them. There’s a notes section, but I would love to see this be a separate section so that I could search recipes based on rating. - the tagging system is a little strange? Tags are created for each book individually, but then you can search your entire collection using tags. So if you’re not careful to use the exact same tags each time for each book, you could have slight variations in tags that may prevent all the results you’d like to see from appearing. It also causes some redundancy in tags that annoys me (like if I don’t remember I used “veg mains” instead of “veg main” or “vegetarian entree.”) there needs to be an option to have a selection of tags that apply to every book that can then be chosen from instead of needing to type in each tag fresh each time.

This app has proven so useful in compiling recipes - from old handwritten notes from Grandma to the recipe you just pulled off the internet - and then allowing you to make notes and tweak it as you go.
