  • A few problems

Its a great app and all but it would be better if the app had brushes you can make and shapes you can make like in the regular procreate.

I am fairly certain that this will be the animation app in the same way that Procreate is the Illustration app on iPads in general. The first year of using it since it’s been public for everyone has the bones of a package that can and does do what others don’t. Their update schedule for the team they have is careful, maybe too careful, but it is continuous. App development isn’t easy, and stability for art packages is extremely important. I may wish it was faster but the team and procreate prime’s quality being any indication, the roadmap for the features you need is in place. And this will be the program to use for a solid animation workflow for generations. Right now, it’s missing lasso, and the vector lines feature of procreate, it gets 5 stars from an animation veteran from potential, and current practical application that will only get better. 5 stars for potential that will only be built upon.
  • Good start but desperately needs more features

It has the good bones of a great animation tool but it is missing a lot of necessary key features, specifically when it comes to the drawing part, most notably a lasso tool. I love the idea of it but as it stands right now it’s simply too frustrating to use and I beg the developers please quickly add these missing features so I can use this program to its full potential

Really don’t know what all the fuss is about. Took an animation course in Art school years ago pre-digital, learned a lot but an extremely expensive course. It took half a semester to do a three minute short. Thanks to DREAMS, the olde project was revisited, revamped and was done in a matter of days!! Took a few courses on Skillshare and from former Disney animator Aaron Blaise to learn the mechanics, ins and outs of the program learning a lot. Of course this app’s maiden voyage will have a few glitches the first go round, but consider how streamlined an animator’s life/work will be using DREAMS . Have patience and let the Procreate Team continue to rework and tweak a few things. . . THE LASSO TOOL WILL COME SOON ENOUGH!! The real litmus test was when I tried the app with my after school Art Club and they LOVED THE FLIPBOOK.

It’s okay at first but it’s so glichy with colors like I’ll have a color and as I keep using it it changes to a whole different color I like the animation and editing part that’s super awesome but you can’t stack layers that I use a lot in procreate so it a weird adjustment. Buts overall a good animation program and I use it a lot
  • Great, but missing features are very hard to work without

I preordered this app back in november, i had it right from launch. I was very excited for this app, but the lack of features like a lasso tool or free transformation are a very big shot to my animation process. So much so that i haven’t been able to actually complete an animation in the app since downloading it. Im still very excited for dreams, since in a lot of ways its workflow is more efficient than other animation apps especially with the way the timeline works. Overall, it has a lot of revolutionary and useful features, but its still missing a lot of crucial ones.
  • Why re invent the wheel?

I love procreate.. I really do, but as far as animation apps go, it feels like you guys tried to re invent the wheel, and not in a good way. Animators don’t want a tool that feels completely unfamiliar as far as animation goes. I’ve tried other animation apps for the IPad and I won’t name any names, but for the most part they had basic features that felt familiar enough that I could jump right in and get something going, where as with Procreate Dreams you really have to watch YouTube tutorials to find your way around this app much moreso than other animation apps. It’s like , take for example, video editing apps. Most videos editing apps just feel familiar enough to other video editing apps that you don’t feel completely lost and the developers, while trying to create a better experience….dont do it to the point where it feels uncomfortable and foreign to the user. With Procreate Dreams, so much energy was put into making the interface clean, that you just don’t know where anything is, and sure…you can watch tutorials….but you still have to memorize where everything is vs apps that clearly have menus you can plainly see if you’ve forgotten where something might be. This app is worse than menu diving because so many things are just hidden and you have to remember which features are where and where to long press..it’s just so unintuitive and distracting from being creative. I just don’t see this ever being my go to animation app on the IPad. I just didn’t need the wheel to be completely re invented if it was going to distract from my creativity.
  • Needs a LOT of improvement

Don’t get me wrong procreate dreams has a lot of potential. Unfortunately there’s a tun of meaninglessness features like the actions within the taps and such. The layout is a complete mess and whenever you add to much or have a large amount of frames it crashes on you. Not to mention how it tends to glitch and such. The app has a tone of potential, overall not worth the 20 dollars and overhyped narrative for the app.
