  • I’m impressed!

I’ve used a few reading programs to see what works best for my 4 almost 5 year old… we are homeschooling so I have the flexibility to do that. Kiddo loves the games/ app. Has learned a ton. Reached a point with blending where we needed to pause and focus on that blending skill more before continuing with more lessons/ increasing difficulty… I think this is more due to my sons early age vs. the apps fault. I stopped the membership for a bit and got asked if I would zoom with someone from their team to discuss why. I was very impressed with how much they take feedback to improve the experience/ games/ lessons. Overall a great great app. We will definitely resume when we reach the fluency I desire with blending 2-3 letter words. Good Job!
  • Not self directed

Many reading apps are self directed, this one is not. It is too basic. There are some nice elements of the app but it doesn’t beat others.
  • Completed the App!

This is a fantastic phonics and early reading tool. It has translated into excellent reading skills outside of the app. My seven year old just finished level 99, and I only wish it kept going!

Hands down the best app to teach kids how to read. The lessons are short, excellent, interactive, and fun! The games are great! Best find! Highly recommend!

The alphabet song is amazing. My daughter loves music and has most the sounds memorized already with the picture prompt of the song. She still doesn’t have them all memorized outside the song yet, but the song is definitely a huge help to get her there! She’s not quite 3, but by lesson 4 she was legitimately blending two letter sounds together by herself! This app really works! Then she loves the cloud game, so I just tell her we have to complete a lesson before we can do the game.

I love the app and have heard great things from others. My only issue is the “slider” slides but the letter sound does not play. Help!

We’ve been using this app for a couple of weeks now, and I can truly say my child has made progress. She doesn’t fight to use this program unlike others we’ve tried. She enjoys sitting with us or siblings to do her work. In addition to the app we also read fun/silly books that she likes, sight word flash cards, a handwriting curriculum and her regular daily curriculum work. As a homeschooling parent of four, I need some extra help sometimes and this app has inspired not only the emerging reader (6.5), but the youngest who is two. It’s just excellent. One last thought I wanted to add, for anyone with struggling learners, maturity plays a big role in when a child is ready to learn to something. Reading may come quick for one child and take years longer than expected for another. Every child is gifted in their own way. Our role as parents should always be to challenge them, sure, but mostly to meet them where they are. This app has allowed me to better meet my child where she is and to keep challenging and encouraging her to find the excitement of reading.

My son knew the sounds but was struggling to blend them. Within a few lessons, he understood what to do. This is the only thing we used with my 4 year old and now at 5, he can read confidently.
  • Best reading and writing app out there for beginners

We have tried almost a dozen different apps/games/lessons to help our kindergartener and preschooler start learning to read. None have them have been very successful. Reading.com however, has been amazing. I love that it’s parent led. It combined writing, reading and comprehension into one lesson. Highly recommend that if you are looking for a good app to use daily, this is the one.
  • Hand Holding App

I was already sitting down and spending time with my kid, hand in hand, sounding out and reading. Maybe I was personally mistaken but this app doesn’t assist with sounding out words, the sliding bar is manual and doesn’t provide the phonics IN THE APP. There is a lot of parent interaction which is fine but I don’t need to pay for that, I can sit down with my kid for free. —- Follow up Thanks for the condescending response. I have zero issues spending time with my kid and helping them read and sound out words, but as stated in my ORIGINAL review. I don’t need to spend $$ money on an app when I can and am doing this with my kid for free.
