Description

In contrast to Screen Time, one sec delays access to apps and websites instead of blocking them completely – this is fundamentally different than any other screen time tool you’ve tried before! Have you tried a digital detox? And it did not work, because you fall back into your habits immediately?  Well here is the solution: one sec solves our unhealthy phone relationship at its roots: by making distracting apps less appealing, our brains lose interest to open them all the time without proper intention. The effectiveness of one sec has been confirmed in a peer-reviewed scientific study with the Max-Planck Institute and Heidelberg University: app usage drops by 57% on average! Long-term! Fight the social media algorithms and win back control over your phone usage & your subconsciousness! “one sec” uses Shortcuts Automation to toggle a deep breath animation whenever you open one of the configured apps (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube…). This breaks unconcious social media habits short-term (literally, as soon as you have set it up) and even helps long-term by adding more friction when opening these apps. Did you really want to open Instagram? Or was it just because you're bored waiting for your bus? This app helps you to reflect your actions, thoughts, and feelings; disrupting harmful social media habits with mindfulness. On top of that, “one sec” also contributes your mindful moments to the Health App via HealthKit. Especially for people with ADHD one sec is a great tool to gain back control for incredible focus and concentration. Integrations and collabs: - You can set up one sec to sync tasks with Structured, so you won't be able to access social media apps during ongoing unfinished tasks. - You can set up one sec to learn a new language with LENGO, so every time you open social media, you have to answer a handful of vocabularies. Available Subscription Options: one sec pro (annual / monthly / lifetime unlock) Terms (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy Policy: https://one-sec.app/privacy/

Amazing app! Helps with the doomscrolling! One recommendation is on the same page where it shows you how many times you have tried to open it, also add the actual amount of time you have actually been on that app.
  • So not use One Sec

*Update: this app did not ask for additional info until after the fact. I had already received my refund through my bank and my subscriptions had already been cancelled, so no, that doesn’t count.* I have been able to compare one sec to Jomo, which both cost about the same and Jomo is significantly better. I went with O.S. at the time only because they were charging much less. I bought a lifetime plan with them and somehow they also charged me for monthly, which i didn’t notice for 3 months. I cancelled the monthly and now they are not giving me any service even though i should be on lifetime. I had bought lifetime by the end of the free week, but it seems that they started charging without actually giving me any free week. When i reached out to support for help, they said they couldn’t help me because they couldn’t find the email associated with my account.

It needs to work without you enabling it in shortcuts

This is a great app but i wish instead of making a ridiculously long “1 second” give me like a really hard puzzle or riddle that want let you use the app unless you solve it and then I wont want to enter instagram or tiktok when im lazy and so i go and read a book and when keeping it solvable but just a hard question or riddle allows me to access such apps if i really wanted do. I think itd be a great addon and a good option to choose along with it being easy to code for the answer identifier part make it multiple choice or something and i dont mind repeating questions by the time i see it ill remeber its use and also i dont think its ask corny as the original and makes me haply when i use it in public thank you for your time:)

While amazing it has come to my attention that not all apps are able to be used
  • Doesn’t work, utter failure

The app is loaded with glitches and often fails to perform its core tasks. It has been working most of the time recently, until I discovered this week, it can be easily bypassed in settings, with a single click. Effectively rendering the app useless and a complete waste of money. I will not be renewing my subscription. The quest to find a functional app to block pornography on my own devices continues. Why can’t anyone pull it off? I have tried everything.
  • Stopped Working?

I just use the free version to stop myself from scrolling socials. Suddenly stopped working two days ago. Tried updating, no luck. Maybe my phone updated in the background and there’s not a new version for that yet? Really disappointed though, it was helping a lot until it broke
  • Too complicated to use

This is a great concept, but enacting it is way too complicated. These steps needed to incorporate this app with other apps and websites meant that I could never get it to actually work properly. In fact, if you have the technical acumen to set this app up, you can just set these restrictions in your iPhone directly for free.
  • Not good at blocking

I tried blocking the website of a specific youtube channel that tempts me, but instead it blocks youtube as a whole. Also said website blocks can be very easily bypassable which kinda makes the whole thing pointless
