Description

In contrast to Screen Time, one sec delays access to apps and websites instead of blocking them completely – this is fundamentally different than any other screen time tool you’ve tried before! Have you tried a digital detox? And it did not work, because you fall back into your habits immediately?  Well here is the solution: one sec solves our unhealthy phone relationship at its roots: by making distracting apps less appealing, our brains lose interest to open them all the time without proper intention. The effectiveness of one sec has been confirmed in a peer-reviewed scientific study with the Max-Planck Institute and Heidelberg University: app usage drops by 57% on average! Long-term! Fight the social media algorithms and win back control over your phone usage & your subconsciousness! “one sec” uses Shortcuts Automation to toggle a deep breath animation whenever you open one of the configured apps (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube…). This breaks unconcious social media habits short-term (literally, as soon as you have set it up) and even helps long-term by adding more friction when opening these apps. Did you really want to open Instagram? Or was it just because you're bored waiting for your bus? This app helps you to reflect your actions, thoughts, and feelings; disrupting harmful social media habits with mindfulness. On top of that, “one sec” also contributes your mindful moments to the Health App via HealthKit. Especially for people with ADHD one sec is a great tool to gain back control for incredible focus and concentration. Integrations and collabs: - You can set up one sec to sync tasks with Structured, so you won't be able to access social media apps during ongoing unfinished tasks. - You can set up one sec to learn a new language with LENGO, so every time you open social media, you have to answer a handful of vocabularies. Available Subscription Options: one sec pro (annual / monthly / lifetime unlock) Terms (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy Policy: https://one-sec.app/privacy/

Very helpful app to reduce impulsivity related to phone usage which is super important in the modern world where the phone and everything related to it is designed and backed by research/money to keep you addicted to it. Very thankful for this app.

I was really trying to curb my Instagram usage and this app helped! When I decided to finally delete Instagram off my phone, I no longer needed one sec. I messaged the company asking how to unsubscribe and they instantly sent me a tutorial of how to unsubscribe. I really appreciate this company’s commitment to its mission, seems like they really want to help people, not just sell stuff.

Every update this app gets something awesome to get your time back. The developer is very passionate about this project and it shows. The UI is beautiful and easy to follow. I love this app for making me super aware of my screen time and assisting with my discipline. Keep up the amazing work 🐐
  • Great app, but…

This is a very clever application that does precisely what it’s advertised to. It requires a form of intervention before opening an app of your choice, and this is highly customizable. There are lots of interventions to choose from, and how long you want them to be. You can also have it choose a random exercise for you, and it supports website blocking as well, which is nice. You can also set up a bedtime schedule where it blocks all apps and websites. It provides an informative dashboard detailing approximately how much time you saved. However, I really can’t get behind the modern era of subscription based apps. Especially for the lifetime license costing a whopping FIFTY dollars, and SEVENTY for a “family plan”. I don’t have any problem supporting independent developers and paying for software, but I personally feel like this is overpriced for what it does. Most of it is just relying on the iOS shortcuts functionality anyway, and all the app is doing is showing a pretty GUI and recording the time. You could replicate something similar in shortcuts (although not entirely, like website blocking for instance.) If you don’t mind the cost, go for it, but I would probably pay $15 maximum for a lifetime license, not $50. Especially considering many people using this are likely college students.
  • Doesn’t really work

It’s a good app, with capabilities to be Great, but in my case it does not work. I just disable it and I can go on YouTube, and to me I need more structure. One design flaw aswell is when I try to go safari it only lets me go to YouTube so it is hard for me to search stuff up. This is just my scenario though try it for yourself.
  • Just One Big Issue

At least for me, the blocking page kicks in a little too late and by that time, I’ve already gotten a glimpse of a social media or my email and figured whether people have texted me or if I have any notifications. In that sense the blocking simply doesn’t work. I still find the app helpful tho

This app is a great tool to break your addiction to social media. While it won’t prevent you from accessing social media apps, it will assist you in your healing journey.
  • Love the concept, doesn’t work properly

I love the idea of this app and in theory it’s very useful, but it just doesn’t work properly. Sometimes I can watch TikTok for 30 seconds before it triggers, and by that point I’m hooked. I’ve also tried to set up intentional app switching multiple times, that feature has never worked. I deleted it today, after a solid 6 months of trying it out and being disappointed.

Buy this app, it’s the only thing that’s helped me put any dent into my screen time at all, apple’s built in screen time monitors are a joke.
