Chessable is the best way I have found to study chess openings, Tactics and Strategy. There are some very well known books that have been converted into courses, often with video instruction. The move trainer is the real benefit. This allows you to practice the moves and see the variations set up and play out in real time. The instructors are top notch and every course I have purchased thus far has been well worth it. I would recommend trying out some of their free content to get a feel for the format.
  • Buyer Beware - stay on free

November 2024 POTENTIAL BUYERS BEWARE… consider sticking to the free version if you’re cautious about purchasing In January 2024, I purchased over $500 worth of courses. Since then, I haven’t bought anything else. However, I recently encountered issues accessing my paid content. Access Issue with Paid Content When I lost internet connection during a power outage, I attempted to access some of my purchased, downloaded courses. Unfortunately, the app would not load without internet, despite claiming to support offline play. The app displayed a loading screen, and since it couldn’t connect, an error message appeared, making it impossible to proceed. This prevented me from accessing the content I had already paid for and downloaded, which should have been available offline. This seems like a design flaw. Ideally, the app should have an in-app verification that allows users to access downloaded content even without an internet connection, especially when it involves paid content. Previous Feedback - January 2024 Review In my original review, I highlighted other limitations in the app. After purchasing several courses, I discovered that the app’s functionality is limited compared to the website. Features like “favorite variation” or replay functions are missing, which can hinder learning for those who study on an iOS. The website is not optimized for mobile or tablets, lots of inaccuracies when you tap on screen elements. Until these improvements are made, I will not make any more purchases.

I use this app everyday to practice opening, but it’s very limited. 2 features id love to see: 1. Toggle between analysis board 2. Creat and edit courses via app. Thank you

Love the format of the courses but some UI love for the iPad version would be great. Example, Would love to be able to change font size as it’s a bit small. Also the pieces could be sharper images.
  • Best chess app of all time

An essential teaching tool for any chess coach. Start the little ones on the “How the chess pieces move” and “knights on attack”. Amazing free resources to get young players started. Train hard with the woodpecker method. Amazing resource to keep everything under one roof.
  • Nearly unusable

App has recently become nearly unusable. Every other review, the line pauses, and you can’t move to the next review. You have to relaunch the app, repeat the same review, and hope that it doesn’t freeze again on the same line. Unlike other chess services like AimChess, ChessTempo, Lichess, or Chess.com, Chessable does not have an active discord server or other way to give feedback to developers. I believe there’s a Trello board where you cannot interact with developers or other users.
  • platform is good, app is bad

Purchased pro for trainings in the plane, as a result I got subscription but the app doesn’t see it (tried from Iphone, Ipad, another iphone, after updates, restored purchases, etc). Just says you have to buy pro to use the functionality though I bought it. Had to claim refund through Apple. No plans returning to premium anymore.
  • Can’t really study courses that are downloaded

The app works well and just as advertised in online mode. But in offline mode, the courses never actually get downloaded in local storage and you can’t access the course contents which is awful because it’s a pro feature that you’re paying to use
  • Lots of missing features compared to web version

    - Bug: The Playback Speed control for videos is not working. - Missing features compared to web version... - Can't create or edit your own variations. - No Ruby Store...can't even view number of Rubies, purchase Rubies, or spend Rubies on bonuses. - Cant view your notifications ( Limited profile settings) -PLEASE ADD AN OPTION TO TURN OFF "DRAGGING PIECES" if I had a dollar for every time I drag a piece accidentally I’d be rich.
