I’ve put so much time into slay the spire on console mobile and pc it’s a perfect game for killing time or to sit down and really put together a build. Would love controller support on mobile but I understand that is a lot of work

  • Great Idea, Terrible Execution

TO MUCH RNG. That simple. The entire game is unplayable if you get unlucky. I’ve played nearly 70 hours of this game, and in my experience, if you get lucky, it’s a cakewalk, if you don’t, you pretty much die. I hate RNG, and almost every mechanic in this game relies on it. Such a great idea, so many concepts carried out well, too much RNG. Than again, that’s every rougelike now isn’t it? It just sucks… :(
  • Decent game, poor port to iOS

I am well familiar with the game from other platforms. I’d give the original game 3.5 out of 5. It’s has an enjoyable game play loop with middling presentation—given the format the sprite art could be much better. Often the play is thinly veiled arithmetic, but other times making combinations and building up your deck is really rewarding. How do you feel about dumb luck, narrow choice, and a game that’s stacked in the house’s favor? If that’s alright by you, you might love the original game. BUT… If you’re not greatly familiar with the game already, avoid it on a phone. The port just shrunk it without adjusting any proportions, resulting in tiny text—even with its “bigger text” option turned on by default. That’s damning because a player needs to keep track of many details that turn into fine print on the phone. Additionally touch screen control is weakly implemented, resulting in gestures not taking, or worse, using a card you didn’t intend. Not recommended on phone, but on a pad it might be okay.
  • Glitchy

After 100 hours of play I still have cards that are not unlocked. Reddit says this is a glitch and I have to start from scratch to get them. It’s not worth the time
  • Game starts to hard

I’m bad at this game, to be honest. But I don’t want to constantly lose, I want there to be a baby mode so that I can have a quick easy fun run, not a stressful, hard game.
  • One of the best games I’ve ever played.

This game is so addicting I had to get it on my phone in addition to PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. This game is so hard to put down.

So much fun, hours of fun, there’s always more to do. If you’re even thinking about it, do it. You’ll get more than your moneys worth out of it.
  • Great port of an amazing game, but the controls need work.

Basically what the title says. If you like good roguelikes and/or good card games, then you’ll love Slay the Spire. It’s challenging, rewarding, and endlessly replayable. The only problem I’ve run into is the controls. For the most part, they get the job done, but I’ve found that it’s very easy to accidentally play cards when you don’t mean to or to play the wrong card, especially when your hand is full and the cards are very close together. On top of that, exiting the game can be difficult on certain devices as the act of swiping up to close the app can also cause you to play a card. Great game, but this port could use some optimization.
