Description

Tot is an elegant, simple way to collect & edit text across your Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It’s your tiny text companion! ⁕ Less Is More Tot’s single window design and simple formatting controls mean no more hunting for that chunk of text. Seven color-coded dots let you organize your notes while keeping them from getting out of hand. ⁕ Dark / Light Mode Designed to look stunning both day and night, Tot takes full advantage of iOS and macOS themes. ⁕ Small Footprint Stays out of the way on the desktop with minimal chrome and can even be controlled via the Menu bar. On mobile, each dot is just a swipe away. ⁕ iCloud Sync Seamlessly syncs your text across iOS and macOS using iCloud so you can capture thoughts wherever you are. ⁕ Markdown Support Full support for rich or plain text and even automatically translates text to Markdown for handy use on the web. Have an RTF file you need marked up? No problem! ⁕ Killer Keyboard Tot puts common text operations on the keyboard and keeps track of word and character counts as you type. Available for macOS, iOS, and watchOS.

  • NEEDS Monospaced FORMATTING

I love tot for most things but desperately want to use it for my scripting and command-line needs. All it would take is adding a markdown style monospaced format and we’d be golden. It’s been two+ years since the last update, come on! You guys should be maintaining and updating your app to stay competitive.
  • good but need one more button

Is really useful, but I would love to see an option to keep the window open when I'm using other apps. Always on top or stay on top button. It would be very very very helpful!
  • The Mighty Mouse of macOS apps

The Iconfactory has done it again. Tot is one of the most consistently useful apps in my arsenal. Works like the ancient PC application Chimp Notes, but lives in the menu bar. Excellent for recording random ideas, notes, etc. Invaluable for research.
  • 5 Stars If Contextual Translation Worked

On a Mac, you can “Control Click,” and get a contextual menu. At the top on the most friendly apps, you get a translate option but for some reason this does not work on Tot! Come on Tot! Make that menu option work!
  • Useful but horribly buggy

If you try to cut and paste more than a single line on the Mac version, the text gets horribly garbled -- lines diisappear or get duplicated. I spent more than a week going back and forth with a support person who eventually acknowledged it's a bug. Unfortunately, the app hasn't been updated since early 2023, so I don't have a lot of faith that it'll get fixed soon. An app that's all about text and costs $5 should be able to display and edit text properly!
  • Missing Dictation on Watch

This is a useful little app, nice design/fonts on watch, but… missing the ESSENTIAL dictation on the watch. I immediately gave up when I could not see the mic icon, and went back to… Drafts. I hope developer adds dictation on watch soon! If you are a user like me who also uses Drafts a lot, there is a great downloadable set of actions by Thought Asylum that works well to move content between both apps back and forth. Good combo!
  • Very useful little tool

I really had no idea how useful this simple little tool would be. What a wonderful surprise.
  • One of the best apps out there except the ego of the makers

I understand no strike through etc. that is their philosophy which I can respect even if I disagree. But no widgets on the Mac, no AVP version and disabling the iPad/iPhone version from running on the AVP… I wish I had a replacement. But no app can match the sync speed and automation abilities of tot.
  • Amazing

This is an amazingly useful, yet simple app that I've been using since day one. What I'd like to have are transparent app windows, and the ability to keep the window on top when detached from menubar. Otherwise - insanely great!

Amazing app. Been using it for years now. Came here to check out for the pro version, ended up leaving a review.
