Fable creates a top notch community for readers who love chatting with other readers. The creative team behind the app are responsive and thoughtful.
  • Implementation sucks…really no other word for it

Fable is a great concept and could be something amazing. But there’s a lack of actual development on features that would keep users from needing multiple apps. Now maybe they just want to stick to the social/bookclub part, which is totally fine. But then just don’t bother having the book tracking system if you can’t even make it work properly after how many years? And then the new subscription model is…for the book tracking system. That already doesn’t really work. Multiple users have been told Fable will NOT work on updating their library. I just don’t see why anyone would want to come to Fable and choose to pay a subscription for something that’s not actually a working system. Not to mention the lack of dark mode, which Fable claims is too difficult for them to develop? I’m unsure how anyone would put their money and time in using an app where they don’t want to work on developing an accessibility feature. And it’s confusing because there’s a dark mode for the ebooks they sell! I completely understand the need for a subscription/paid app features. But when the money isn’t going towards the features users actually want…what’s the point? I know many users will pay just to support the company and I have done that myself. But I just don’t see any progress on the development of the platform. It’s just adding things that half-work and not fixing bugs and issues that have been happening for months.
  • Loving it but…

Is there a way to sort my want to read or finished list by what I rated it or it’s average rating? I would very much appreciate that feature!

Was a good app until they ruined it by adding a subscription(without even a free trial period). Are y’all really that desperate for money? But what was worse was that it was stated in a post on your app that none of our current features would disappear. But all of a sudden the widget is a fable+ feature? So that was a lie? I am required to leave a start otherwise I’d give you a zero star for what y’all have done.

Helping me keep track of what I’m reading and want to read next has been so helpful. I’ve never been more motivated to read thanks to this App!
  • Need Better Support For Missing Books

I am not really sure what to do with an app that has insufficient support to add books to its catalog. Having to use a chrome extension is not a good enough option. There seems to be no support on Fable’s end to respond to book requests. Very disappointing for an app that requires a subscription to take advantage of premium features. This is the main reason why I cannot abandon Goodreads.

I used to love this app and I am trying the fable plus but it doesn’t track your pages read correctly. If I finish a book it does not track the rest of my pages and doesn’t count towards my goals. There are other glitches as well that are gonna make me not keep plus.

This app is so much more modern than Goodreads! I love all of the features it has.
  • Love it.. a couple of bugs though

I really love this app. It has so much potential, but there are a couple of bugs I’ve noticed. I set my yearly goal and it doesn’t show up. I try to set it again and it says I already set it to that amount. I also wish the list thumbnails showed more recent books. Right now they show books I read months ago. I’ve noticed it’s slow update things in general too. I really hope they fix these things and improve app performance. Again, it’s a great app (the design is stunning) but there are some kinks. The biggest things I wish that would make me fully switch from Goodreads is for an easier way to search books and also ratings having more visibility.
  • Great app, unless you like indie books.

Fable is a great app for tracking your reading habits, and it’s great that they have book clubs. Unfortunately, there are very few if any indie books on Fable, so it doesn’t accurately track my reading habits. Yes, you can request that books be added, but the process takes forever. I’ve never had one of my requested books added to the app.
