Description

Bark provides families with all the tools they need to raise kids in the digital age. Our comprehensive service lets you monitor content, manage screen time, and filter websites so you can get peace of mind while your child is online. CONTENT MONITORING Bark monitors your child’s texts, email, YouTube, and 30+ apps and social media platforms for issues like cyberbullying, adult content, sexual predators, profanity, suicidal ideation, threats of violence, and more. Parents receive alerts only when something potentially problematic occurs online. You won’t have full access to everything on your child’s phone — just the things you might need to know about. SCREEN TIME MANAGEMENT Families can set healthy time limits and create schedules for when their children’s devices can connect to the internet (through both cell service and Wi-Fi). WEB FILTERING Our web filter lets you select which websites your child can access on their devices. You can allow or block specific sites — or even whole categories like streaming services, online gaming, sexual content, and more. BARK TESTIMONIALS • "My wife and I LOVE Bark. We've had some tough but productive conversations with our 13-year-old son. It's proving to be extremely valuable." — Josh L. • “It’s just another set of protections we as parents give our kids for the digital environment (or as my 10-year-old calls it, a “cell phone seat belt”). My oldest is a 9th grader, and while I trust her, I’ve come to realize through the alerts that some of her friends aren’t truly her friends. It’s led to some amazing conversations about choosing friends wisely and recognizing toxic people. While she wasn’t for Bark at first, she’s since said she’s grateful that I saw those messages because it reaffirmed what she was feeling but didn’t know how to verbalize without sounding sensitive.” — Bark Parent • "Bark notified me that my young daughter had unknowingly revealed her phone number to strangers on Twitter. The fact that Bark notified me was impressive and led to an informative discussion with her the same day." — Jon B. • “Since Bark alerted us to the suicidal language used in the Google doc that was being used in a chat document with a friend, we have seen both a pediatrician and a licensed counselor. We are hopeful for a positive outcome. Thanks to Bark for letting us peek into our child’s mind!” — Bark Parent • “This app is a lifesaver! It has allowed us to catch so many “red flags” in the content my kids have accessed on their devices and in their interactions with friends and other people online that I wouldn’t have ever known about otherwise. The big difference between Bark and other “Parental Control” software is that Bark allows your kids to have so much more privacy. It doesn’t show you everything they do, but sends an instant alert regarding any activity that might be concerning. Highly recommended!” — Bark Parent With Bark, you can help keep your kids safe both online and in real life. Try it out for seven days absolutely free! • Battery Hog on Bark Kids iOS

Even with location tracking turned off. The bark kids app used a whooping 45% of my son’s brand new iPhone 13. VPNs shouldn’t use that much. I didn’t find the account tracking useful. The alerts were really sensitive. So I turned on weapon and violence. The weapon one kept notifying me of video game content. A couple times it was actually about a real weapon. The things I liked: 1. being able to see the trips on location my son was taking. Had to turn it off though since it was too battery hungry. Now I just use Find My notifications. Go on your kids iPhone into find my. Click on yourself and set up location notifications for leaving and arriving places. 2. Scheduled times. That’s something the parent controls for iOS doesn’t have. But in iOS I can manually turn on downtime by going to my son’s contact in the Contacts app. All in all would have kept it if it didn’t destroy the battery life of my son’s device.
  • Doesn’t really work well with an iPhone

The app monitors Instagram well. The key feature I wanted was to monitor texts and chat messages. I discovered though with the latest IOS update in order to do this Bark constantly is asking for my child to enter their passcode on their phone. This is highly annoying. It seems I get things configured for a day and then the app stops monitoring her phone. This is the second monitoring app I’ve tried that is subpar. My advice is to save your money until they fix the constant login issue.
  • Parents beware-Any issues, they refuse you refunds even 1 day later.

I had gotten the one year subscription to use for both my son & daughter’s devices. Within being in the 3 day trial period, it wasn’t working with my daughter’s device & I also didn’t really like the structure of the app vs another app I’ve used. I immediately, within less than a day of having it tried to end the subscription so I wouldn’t get charged. It took 2 days for a response & I was denied. I tried to appeal but was still denied, no reasons given. Tried to go through Apple & my credit card to get the $106 back for something I’m not even using & I keep getting denied. So for parents-realize if you run into any issues or you need to cancel even within the trial period, they will scam you & charge you for a full year regardless.
  • Waste of good money

It’s very difficult to setup with iOS. It forced you to use a computer in the process. Apple and Bark don’t agree on the interface requirements for iOS and Windows. Can’t scan our child’s phone. Can’t fix the situation. Nothing is getting better. Shame on Bark for profiting from such a poor product while children’s devices remain unprotected.
  • Bad/slow chat help, do not buy

So you apparently do not need this app or this subscription to use the Bark watches. This is what their tech support has told me. You also cannot activate the watches from any email address different than the one you might’ve happened to have purchased this under. Terrible if it’s a gift. Also terrible if a different family member bought the watch, but you are the techno one that is setting them up. You cannot set them up. Support is no help.
  • Does not work for IOS

Slowed everything to a standstill and requires the password to the device be entered every 5 mins but most importantly alerted all the time over nothing and missed something pretty bad. There must be better alternatives out there.

This app has helped me so much as a parent! It monitors my teens screen time, keeps her out of trouble, and promotes good mental wellbeing! And so much more! 10/10 would recommend to any mom out there! ❤️
  • Non-update Update

I’m officially confused as to what is going on with this app. It says it hasn’t updated in over a year, yet last night when I was in the app, all of a sudden everything changes to some kind of a dark setting, except that it completely rearranged where everything in the app is, and I can no longer find things like the screen time breakdown of how long they’ve spent in each sort of app. And I can’t ask Bark assistant where to find it, because clicking Bark assistant is doing nothing. Not a fan.
  • Where did the original homepage go?

Just got my daughter the Bark phone last week. The homepage of the app had multiple buttons, monitoring, apps, insights etc., but just when I had things figured out that page disappeared yesterday. I tried everything and even tried to figure out if it had just been reconfigured. Now I can’t figure out how to see her daily activities. Frustrating.
  • Not user friendly at all

The installation across multiple social platforms is clunky at best… downloading extensions, etc… not easy
