  • Useless without a subscription

    This app is completely useless unless you pay. In order to find that information out, you are required to create an account. I understood there were in app purchases when downloading, but did not realize the ONLY thing you can do with the free version is a watering schedule 🙄. The app forced me through so many questions and creating an account before making this information available. That is immoral and they know it. They have every systematic capability of changing that order and choose not to, remember that. Don’t download unless you want yet another subscription every month out of your bank account. It’s like everything else in life now, taking advantage of individual consumers

    Stop sending paying customers spammy advertisements in notifications. At a minimum give us the option to turn off marketing notifications only. I don't want to turn everything off otherwise I'll miss the watering notifications.

    I thought the Dr Planta would help diagnose my plant’s specific problem and offer suggestions. All it does is identify the plant and provide general information. I purchased the year instead of trial because I wanted the Dr feature. Won’t do that again!!!

  • Everything was great… until..

    The app worked great, I use a widget to access the app/track plant care. One day the widget said “reload app” so I click open the app and it tells me “something went wrong” So I made sure my app was up to date, and tried again.. nothing.. I’m scared to delete and redownload my app because I don’t want go lose my plants!! Update: ended up having to remove and redownload the app, I don’t think I had any sort of account so I lost all my plants..

  • *minor* abuse of push notifications

    Planta *minorly* abuses Push Notifications, in my opinion, by disallowing end users the ability to Opt Out from receiving Marketing messages sent via Push Notifications (or if they do, it is in no way user-friendly at all times to locate deep within the settings). While historically not too common, there has been a recent increase in the rate of marketing messages sent via Push Notification. Note: I only keep my phone’s personal (and very blunt) on/off settings for this app’s push notifications turned on only because I find its ‘Time to Water’ plant reminders sent via Push Notification helpful & of Value. Otherwise, this is a fantastic app and I enjoy its value very much. Would otherwise recommend 👍🏼 (and exponentially/especially so if they fixed this UX flaw with Marketing Notifications/spam).

    Why sneak around and gain my info and NOT tell in advance that the app costs money? Why make us down load, set up and tell you about our plants and THEN tell us to pay $36 a year? It's fn sneaky is what it is.

    I’ve paid for Planta for several years now and recommended it to many other people. It used to be a great app that helped me make my plants thrive. Now, however, it is filled with bugs and it seems all they want to do is spam you with notifications for their store. I’ve previously contacted them and they claim to have turned off marketing notifications to me but I still get them. I won’t be renewing again.
