Description

Let MetaImage take care of your images metadata on Mac. Instead of manually editing data for every picture in the Photos app, you get a completely automated flow. Handle every tag format — including EXIF, IPTC, and XMP. Flexibly add GPS coordinates. Create presets and apply the same changes to multiple pictures. - Over 5000 tags supported You can get your hands on all the tags. If you search the Mac App Store, Metalmage is the only tool available with a support for MakerNotes, EXIF IPTC, XMP, and tons of other tags within one interface. So it’s definitely the right tool to consolidate your metadata work on a Mac. - EVERY IMAGE FORMAT YOU NEED Forget about converting, this tool handles all the images you give it. Move your file to the app window and start editing right away. Metalmage works with over 90 of image formats, including HEIC, JPEG, PNG, RAW, CR2, CR3, TIFF, and many more. - GPS TAGGING SUPPORT Easily add GPS coordinates to your images. You can either type in the name of the location and let the app find it, click on the map, or copy the address from another file. MetaImage also allows you to restore previous locations and search by GPS tags. - CREATE TAILORED PRESETS With Metalmage, you not only batch edit images metadata, but automate the full flow. Based on specific characteristics, create presets and use them for recurring editions. Most likely, many of your edits will be the same. So the more presets you make, the more time you save. - PHOTOS EXTENSION You can go through all the metadata without leaving your Photos app. MetaImage has a Photos extension that allows to read all kinds of data, including EXIF, XMP, IPTC, and MakerNote. Whenever you need to make changes, upload a photo to the app and fix the metadata instantly. - YOU OWN THE EXPERIENCE Decide which tags should be displayed in the app, based on what you’re used to work with. Browse tags and choose your preferred ones. You can customize the tags displayed in Metalmage and the Photos extension separately. - GET HELP WITHIN THE APP MetaImage is designed so that just anyone can pick it up and use it, particularly if you have even a rudimentary knowledge of photography. However, if something isn’t clear, you can submit feedback or ask questions within the app itself. Subscription Terms of Service and Privacy Policy: https://neededapps.com/legal.

  • Slow and Too Simple

Takes a very long time to load large batches of images. This is not for professional use and quite overpriced for what it offers. Practically useless.
  • Unable to export image with metadata

I just bought this app. I can't get the metadata to stick and I see no instructions to make this work. Please help.
  • Great software, but...

I have been using the app for a while now. But today I found a problem. If I try to edit metadata on NEF files from a Nikon Z7II, it breaks the files. They will no longer open in any Adobe product and even Nikon's own software says it's an unsupported format. It does still seem to work ok with the D750 and D850 cameras. So now I've lost a bunch of photos that will not open anywhere.
  • Rewriting associations of files

I put one star for the fact that this app without any demand rewrites all associations of graphic files (even .sketch!) to itself
  • Go To EXIF data program

This is my go to EXIF data edit program, along with the A Better Finder programs. Installs as a Right Click/Open With options program. New version makes MetaImage even better.
  • Simple Date, Time, GPS for my scans

I've been scanning hunderds of family photos and negatives from the pre-digital era. Were it not for being able to invade the each file and change the creation date, my photos from the 70's, 80's & 90's would go into various apps as having been taken in the 2020's. This program allows me to change the deeply written file date to any date I want. As well as GPS coordinates. Then regardless if they go into Apple Photos or whatever apps my kids use in later. years, the dates will be true. So nice.

New Review As of 2023. This app simply gets better. The app simply works. Read more below. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Beware of overly negative reviews here in the App Store. Most people either really like an app or really do not like an app, and those people will write many paragraphs to tell their story of why they like or hate an app. Watch out for "one-liners" I have many images from the past that I need to place on a map. Now I can get that done. The map is just what I was looking for. I needed the Hybrid Satellite map so I could see the roads, but also lakes and streams that are not on a road map. In short the map works great. One request to the developer. Please make the map remember my last zoom level and my last position. That will assist me when I am dealing with photos that are in the same general area. Excellent job createing a useful app.
  • Fantastic App!

I don’t know what happened to my first rating left here but I’ll try to repeat what I said before…this app is fantastic and the developer is very responsive. The app features a built-in feedback email tool that enables the developer to react quickly. The first version I used was 1.0.11 and it worked great. I had found a few things that could be changed for usability and the developer jumped right in and made those and more changes. Now, the program is functioning perfectly from my point of view. Here’s how I’ve used the program. 15 years worth of film negatives (110 mm and 135 mm) needed digitized for obvious reasons…the wife wanted it done. After amassing over 6500 digital images with default scanner imprinted and limited metadata, I needed an app to edit all those files. MetaImage to the rescue. Luckily, I was able to scan and save the digital images into year/month folders. Then importing the entire month of images (1 - 150 images, depending) into MetaImage…piece of cake. Instantly available. Master the presets if you’re doing something similar. The preset features allowed me to establish one master present for author, copyright, etc. information. Then I used as many as needed “GPS” presets to create location metadata. Here’s one of the shining features of MetaImage, the GPS/Location editor. It is quite versatile in how you obtain and enter your coordinates. Once many GPS presets were created, each year/month’s files were imported, select all, apply master Preset, then individually or in small groups as appropriate, apply the GPS preset. I even discovered that Orientation can be ‘tagged’ and portrait images will then import properly into your DAM (Photos, Aperture, Lightroom, etc.). Finally, I would tag the entire year/month images with generic 'month, 1, year' date information, enough that later that metadata could be grabbed by Better Rename 10 for renaming the actual digital file. OK, press Process button, and now select Override Files so it writes the data into the original file, i.e., not making a duplicate on your hard drive…internal or externally attached makes do difference. (Some EXIF editors I’ve tried have a problem with external hard drives.) 6500 images later, I have proper metadata tagged, geo-located old images ready for importation into my DAM for archiving and selective clean-up. This is the perfect app for metadata tagging. You won’t be disappointed. ----- Many moons later, and significant changes made in the layout and implementation of this software, and I still stand by my review that MetaImage is a fantastic piece of software capable of changing a large number of metadata with ease. The Map/GPS implementation is by far the best available. I now use MetaImage in conjunction with Capture One (as a roundtrip tool) to edit details of one or many images.

App does not save keywords for photos. No way to easily deslect all photos at once or Select many with a click. Develioer help line, is USELESS. I write to the dev, and I got a reply that they will refer my question to support. 2 days ago. Would not reccomend.
  • Almost great app with a limitation

So far, this is a pretty good app; however it would be nice if the Photos extension could actually edit the metadata. Not sure if this is a limitation that Photos imposes; I notice that the IPTC Object Name Tag will only show the name assigned in Photos after the photo is exported. The Open from Photos option is more or less useless because there is no way to search or categorize photos. I have to scroll through thousands of photos to find the one I want.
