I love being able to see data on news sources!
  • Doesn’t support external browser

I wanted to like the app, but there’s no way to open a story in your default browser. It always opens in the internal browser, which means all your normal browser preferences — autoplay control, privacy, bookmarks, password management, adblocks, accessibility, etc — are blocked. To open any story in your default browser, you first have to open it in the internal browser. So much for privacy. There’s absolutely no reason to do this unless they get a cut on the advertising and data mining. UPDATE: Ground News support emailed and claimed it would be illegal for them to use the external browser by default. That pretty much sums up the type of developer here. UPDATE 2: In response to their reply, when I asked the devs to let me use my external browser instead of forcing me to use their built in browser, their exact response was “the ads you see are from external sources and legally we can’t remove them”. So yes, you’re the ones claiming that this would be illegal. The app developer is being intentionally evasive and weirdly trying to redirect the issue. There is no reason whatsoever to not let your users use their own browser. The only reason to force people to use your internal browser is if you’re monetizing or analyzing traffic. Prove me wrong by using the external browser by default.
  • Ads & Security

I wasn’t informed about the amount of ads I would be exposed to. This is in small print no one reads. More ads than any free program. My system was hacked & passwords stolen after 1 week of this program. I’ve been an Apple system user for over 25 years. This is my 1st hack. My degree is electronic engineering with a specialty in digital communications.

I love that I can find everything in one place. I don’t have to hunt all over anymore which is a huge time saver. The bias info is great, and the fact I can do feedback when I think they’ve got it wrong is great. Some center aren’t really center so feedback is necessary. Overall, this is the best I’ve found.
  • Finally we have credible news!

It is so refreshing and gratifying to be able to review news headlines more objectively. Seeing how major stories are apparently cloaked is most revealing!
  • Intrusive ads

After paying for the Pro level I'm disappointed. Ads are very intrusive. It is killing the quality of ground news. It's not an enjoyable experience.
  • Improved reading experience

(iPhone, annual subscription) This is what I originally wrote: The rapid inclusion and selection of sources is really good, but— much of the time you will meet a paywall instead of an article, especially with many of the major sources. And way too many of the “free” sources are over the top with big parallax and pop-up ads the reading experience is a mess. Ground responded via email to my review, pointing out two important features, and I tried them, and added more stars: “We recently created an external browser that gives our readers a better news reading experience. To use this feature, click on the golden icon in the top right corner of an article. It makes for a less choppy news reading experience for articles that are inundated with unfortunate pop ups. Additionally, as a Ground News subscriber, whenever you open the newsroom to see the full range of sources reporting on a story, you can select “Sort & Filter” and remove paywall sources from that collection of stories. I hope this improves your experience.”

Poor representation of articles presented. Total left wing pushing stories. Which I could get my money back
