  • Too stingy

Stop being stingy and making me have to pay for my own voice to read it, I’m glad there are some other sounds so I don’t have to listen to Samantha’s bum voice but I want snoop dog to voice my notes to help me study.
  • Expensive and will not go away

I liked this thing for a few months and then found it just ok, when considering the extremely high cost. Now that my year has expired, the reader widget will NOT GO AWAY ON MY MACBOOK. I’ve signed out. I’ve toggled all settings to off…and yet-every new website I visit has the big obnoxious reader taking up space infuriatingly. I wish I’d never downloaded it, let alone paid a fortune for this torture.

i used speechify for a little less than a year until i switched to voice dream reader. with speechify, i paid for premium because i had a lot of documents to read and it helped a lot, however, every now and then i would be logged out of my account. i would log in and then my membership was gone. when this happened i usually had to reload or log out again for it to bring back my membership, but recently it didn't work. for days i tried everything and even reached out to speechify for help but even they could not help since they saw from their end that i never had a membership even though i sent in the recipt. it was very frustrating so i canceled the membership through the app store and never went back.

I wish they had a monthly option as the 140 right away is a bit expensive.

I love reading, can’t get enough of it. But a lot of times my ADHD gets me off track (if you have ADHD, you know how hard it can be: having to re-read, mind wandering, not absorbing information). So I thought I’d give this a try (I’m in my free trial period still). Having to take pics of each page is a bit frustrating, but I’m still reading faster than before so it’s something I’m willing to deal with. I still need to see the words as they are being read to me or my mind will wander, the app does that so I don’t also have to have the book. Thank goodness it does that because if it was just 100% audio I would get a little confused, I wish I could upload a screen video of what it sounds like and how often it skips around the page!! Also, it pauses unnecessarily at the end of a line when it is not yet the end of a sentence. Sometimes, it will start a paragraph and then skip a whole line only to randomly come back to it later. Some books increase the font size of the first letter of a chapter and that first letter takes up 2 lines, so let’s say the first word of the chapter is “storms” it will say S then read TORMS, and since the letter is large and is also in front of the second line of the paragraph it will say S and then read whatever word the next line begins with. There are 6 voices in the free trial period and I’ve tried them all, they all do these things. I’ve tried scanning my books in different light as one page vs two page, tried speeding up and slowing down the reading speed, nothing helps. I’m still debating on whether or not to keep going after the trial period. It really does help me read faster and absorb the information, but if I’m not paying attention to it, I’ll definitely get confused. ALSO, it skipped over a whole entire once, I kept trying to tap the page, rewind, fast forward, nothing helped, I just had to pause the audio and read the page on my screen without assistance.

You have to pay money to do any of the celebrity voices. At least add a couple of voices
