    Extremely Frustrating Experience — Needs Urgent Fix I’ve now spent multiple sessions scanning in entire books, only to have them completely disappear from the app. Most recently, I spent 20+ minutes scanning a book—my wife was helping, holding our baby and turning the pages—and yet the scan is nowhere to be found. This has happened more than once, and it’s incredibly frustrating. When I scan something in, I expect it to be immediately visible on the home screen. Instead, I have to dig through file locations, scroll to the bottom, and hunt through the app trying to figure out where the scan went. This is poor UX for such a core feature. Why can’t the most recent scan show up at the top of the app? At the very least, there should be a prompt to lock in or save a scan before leaving the screen. I’ve re-scanned the same content twice now just to ensure it doesn’t vanish. I’m using top-of-the-line hardware and cameras, so it’s not a device issue—it’s the app’s handling of files. If you can’t ensure stability, you need a clearer workflow and a way to confirm that work isn’t lost. This is a critical issue that undermines the entire purpose of the app.

    They said it would notify me before it charges me so I could cancel my trial period before being charged. It didn’t. I tried to cancel and had many problems and couldn’t. I tried again the next day and was able to cancel successfully. However, trail date to cancel was day before when I couldn’t figure it out. I reached out to get refunded and they said I couldn’t because I purchased through Apple Pay. So I had to reach out to Apple. Apple was very helpful in trying to get refunded however I was denied a refund. Then they said I could dispute it and I did and was denied a second time. This app was not anything I wanted and was a trail that was so difficult to cancel. And then they couldn’t refund me after multiple times of reaching out. This is horrible Custer service. Very disappointed

  • Good but a bait & switch

    Trial seems like a bait & switch. The reader / voices seems good but it constantly stops. It reads 2 paragraphs and then stops making it the most irritating reader as it seems to force you to purchase without letting you actually try it. I’ve tried a few different readers for a disability, and was hesitate to invest in Speechify due to reviews that called out this specific issue. Why make it irritating versus letting the user actual trial it as promoted for 7 days?

    Charged me $140 for an annual plan even though the app clearly states they won’t do that and they will only charge $2 a month. Complete scam and it’s a shame to see.

    Speechify has changed the course of my schooling completely, I am able to focus for hours more than I usually can on my schoolwork. A replay button would be convenient. Other than that this is a phenomenal app! Five stars!

  • Frustrating Data Grab

    I find it frustrating that the app appears to be free on the App Store. Once you download it you provide them A LOT of data about yourself that you can’t skip, you must answer it, and after you’ve provided all the data the hit you with the price and you can’t move forward until you pay up. I think there should be more transparency with the costs up front before grabbing your data, I find it dishonest especially when you’re collecting data on people’s neurodivergence.
