Opened app and it won't let me log in under my existing Gaia uname and pword and it directs you to open an outside acct, so I did and it still won't work. Just repeats the login screen.
  • Unusable now that Outside login is required

I have used this app for years. But I’m now unable to access it at all because of the stupid login requirement via Outside. It takes six (!!!!!!) steps to try logging in with my password manager, and then I get bounced back to the first login screen. Login through web browser works fine, but why would I want to do that. This is seriously broken.

The app updated without me noticing. I went out hiking and the update had logged me out. I could not log back in because I didn’t have cell service. I knew my route, so I was safe. But I will never trust Gaia again and won’t renew my subscription.
  • Used to be amazing, till outside bought it

I use this app almost every day doing work as an environmental scientist. Ever since outside magazine bought it. It has seen a huge drop quality. With my tracks not recording properly. In addition, I had to set my privacy settings as it automatically defaulted to public, which I feel like was an innovation privacy. Please make this as I want to support it, but it is losing.
  • Use Engineering to fix the Private Land Layer rather than add useless social networking

A few releases ago this same problem occurred. Support’s response was try this, try this, try this…. The next release fixed the problem. The most recent release AGAIN will not display the Private Land layer.
  • Unsafe

Unfortunately some of my tracks became public without my knowledge or permission. And I’m a paying customer. Also recently after an update I cannot sign in anymore, “for safely” yeah right. I’m done, deleting.

I have used the paid version of Gaia for a number of years now. When I first started using it, the app was wonderful! Offline maps. I could easily download, mark a few waypoints before going somewhere and I always knew (as long as I had phone battery) I had access to my maps. Recently it has gotten to the point I honestly do not trust the app to work or allow me to access my maps. I always carry a paper map as a backup. But now I use a backup phone app because I know it’s about 50/50 if Gaia will work. Unfortunately have cancelled my subscription and moving elsewhere

The app requires you to login before you can view maps. This happens even if you don’t have cell phone service, making the app useless for the backcountry.
  • Outside Magazine runs everything it touches

Public shares info and by default, got stuck at the login page trying to access tracks saved to my device outside of cell coverage. My 5 year subscription is up in June, definitely not renewing.
