Description

Welcome to a new app experience, we have optimized our app and given it a facelift! This faster native app now has the following new features: Your News: Provide personalized recommendations for content based on user preferences. Users will be allowed to customize the content they want to engage with by selecting the topics they are truly interested in. By going to the "Your News" tab the user can bypass the noise of all that is published and home in on the content they want Saved Articles: Save feature that allows users to save articles or other content they are interested in for later reading or reference.Push notifications will remind users to read their saved articles or suggest related content Custom Push Notifications: The user can select what topics they want to be notified about which makes for a much less intrusive experience. Top Navigation Bar: A top navigation bar lets the user switch between sections by swiping or tapping. Enews in-app: Desire the newspaper experience? No need to open a separate app! By simply going to Settings and selecting E-News the user can browse the Digital Replica of the day's paper. Offline Reading: This feature allows users to enable offline reading from Settings. Offline "Reading Preferences" can also be customized for Settings. Swipe Left: Instead of going back to the main section to find more articles, users have the option to simply swipe, immediately opening other articles in the Section. Follow Topics: A user will be shown articles on topics they are following. To follow select "follow" at the article level and related articles will gain relevancy and be shown more frequently. Just as easily "Unfollow" Terms of Use: https://www.medianewsgroup.com/terms-of-use/ https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Every time I’m forced to update this app, I hope this problem will be fixed - it makes a click sound and then jumps to other sections on its own and you have to a scroll back to where you were. It’s really annoying. Please fix.

I was getting used to the last update and then it was changed again. This update is clumsy and slow to load. I don’t like the arrows you have to click (sometimes several times) to navigate to the desired view. The font on my iPad is very small and if I make it larger it doesn’t carry from one article to the next. Thus, in article view I have to change the font in every single article, and before I scroll down, because the font option is only at the top. The font option in the settings does not work. Also, the photos in article view don’t include the captions, so I have to switch back to page view if I want to read them. It’s clumsy and ineffective. Surely you can do better than this. I’d take the last update over this one. Please fix this app and make it user friendly!!
  • Too many forced updates!!

The UT is a fine paper and local media is very important, but the mandatory updates are way too frequent! The epaper was way easier to access a few months ago, and why are logins constantly required? I’ve had the New York Times app for near on a decade, and I don’t think I’ve been forced to update or log in the entire time, save for when I get a new phone. If the grey lady can do it, why can’t the UT?
  • Cheapening the online experience

For months I’ve enjoyed accessing the ePage Cover of the SDUT on my lower priced online access account , until a week ago when that access was blocked unless I pay for a full subscription. I don’t read the SDUT often enough to merit paying for a full subscription. Any more cheapening of the experience will have me biding farewell to the Union Trib.

Roll it back! Horrible format. I want to see the whole page and swipe to get to the next page. Just give me a list of the sections, I don’t need to see each page. I also don’t need to see all the past issues. If I want a past issue I will go to the archive. Why would you mess with something that worked!
  • Got dumped

This app although very useful when it works dumped me after 5 months into a prepaid one year subscription. The IT guy agreed I am a paid up subscriber but couldn’t fix the App to recognize that. He did provide a way to access thru my web browser so the contract has been honored.

Oh. And the latest authentication on the Apple store app will NOT EVEN ALLOW YOU to login. Complete waste of time. Broken app. Useless “news”, unless you like to hear gossip about Padres baseball team. Dont waste your money on this app. So, another working app forces me to update, for no apparent reason. And the app is no longer working or available. The app uses a separate useless third party app to “authenticate” my account. But it flat does not work. Absolutely worthless. No, i dont need to be contacted by anybody. It is YOU, app owner, that needs a working app. You dont need to fix it. You should just give up, and stop what you are doing. As soon as you read this. I would ban you from the Apple app store, but non-functioning app paid for with real money is not against TOS. At this time. Another Apple loophole that should be changed. The website via a browser still lets me login. Showing me they have completely brain dead tech people working at their company. Which is no different than their “news” team, who repost social media releases from corporations and government as unchecked facts. Really. We can blame google for ruining news. But the biggest blame is on the news industry itself. Which still cannot use modern technology, and no longer reports news. There is no replacement. News is just propaganda at this point. Maybe it will be reinvented some time in the future when it is desired again. Good luck making life decisions based on social media and its so called “influencers”.

Unable to read paper online. Can not find daily crossword. The UT broke something that didn’t need fixing.
