  • Songs disappear

I had been learning a song for days, practicing consistently and following the lessons step by step. Just when I was starting to enjoy it and see some real progress… the song disappeared! No warning, no notification—just removed because, apparently, they no longer have the legal rights. I find it unacceptable that a platform focused on music learning can’t ensure the stability of its content. Investing time only to have it wasted like this is frustrating and discouraging. If you can’t guarantee the availability of songs, at least notify users in advance or offer alternatives. This is not professional.
  • Great App, one thing though.

This app has been great. Goes slow and is pretty thorough. I appreciate the options of different songs per lesson. My only gripe though is when I cant go the speed of the lesson and I slow it down, I don’t get any stars, which I get even though I don’t recall that being explained. But if a lesson has been particularly frustrating, i would love a ‘great job, now work on speeding it up,’ instead of ‘you need at least one star to move on,’ like I’m a loser. Like I said, just the one gripe to an otherwise great app.

This is majorly how I just started playing guitar and im loving it so far. What i was hoping is if you guys could maybe add a suggestion tab for songs people would like. I personally would love to have “love on the rocks” by Neil Diamond on there but I think a suggestion tab would be great. Apart from that it id a very good app and in my opinion helps very better at teaching you guitar by going much more in depth i to the basics of first playing. So id recommend for beginners or people just wanting to learn guitar but not go and get lessons anywhere.

I’ve had a sentimental guitar for about 10 years now and every time I try to pick it up (with or without an instructor) I put it right back down and lament how I wish it would just “come to me.” I’ve been playing with this app for three weeks now and have just gotten through all the chords!!! I’m PLAYING CHORDS!!! The app makes it addicting and fun and easy to learn. If you’ve been putting off picking up your guitar and you see this review…. Pay for the app and start playing!! I’m telling you, it’s worth every penny and it’s the best things that’s happened to me all year. Thank you Gibson! Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!
  • So glad I’ve found this app!

The lessons, feedback, gamified approach, helpful information, and AI feedback make this app stand out. This is a great adjunct to having a live teacher. This will really stoke your motivation to become a better player

I bought a guitar the day before I turned 40. I had many people tell me why are you doing that you are starting way too late. I downloaded this app a week later and I have been playing for an hour or more every day for the past 30 days. It is so much fun. I love this app.
  • Locked-down & spam emails

I wanted to think that Gibson was gonna do anything other than a cash grab but the “free” version of this app let me do like three exercises on two strings and then I wasn’t able to unlock anything else for a day indicating to me that it would be a very tedious process to finally get to anything concrete. Also, I unsubscribed from the app email updates several days ago and I’m still getting them. The app setup is cluttered and like a “freemium” mobile game has lots of dead-end debris to click on only to be told to subscribe to the service.
  • It’s OK

It’s an OK app. I think the lessons are good but it’s easier to learn what they are showing you if you like the songs they are using. Majority of the lessons use songs I have never heard. Also the note detection is bad. It will register correct notes when I haven’t played anything and miss notes that were played. It’s very distracting when the song just stops because it thinks you missed a note. Really messes up your groove when that happened. I would prefer that the song just keeps going. It’s an ok teaching app but needs some changes.

This Gibson learning app is amazing and it is light years ahead of the Justin Guitar lessons app. Yes I paid for both subscriptions to compare them. Lol. I wanted to make sure that I using my time efficiently. In short, I won’t be renewing my subscription to Justin no matter how cheap it is. For reference, I’m an adult beginner with no significant prior music experience other than signing karaoke with friends. With just one week’s worth of Gibson lessons, I am comfortably using 3 fingers and two strings. More to come for sure :). This app is rewarding and designed in such a way that practice is truly fun. The Ai interface and leaderboard makes it feel like practice isn’t work at all. It’s enjoyable, you get to anonymously compete with other beginners with earned practice points, and at the same time it challenges you to improve. Sometimes I find myself planning for a 30 minute practice time, then look up to see that 1.5 hrs has gone by. It’s rewarding. and I recommend it without reservation.
