I am new to guitar and trying to learn is fun but my guitar is bad so it won’t let me out of the first lesson because it’s always to high or two low so I can’t actually play

When I was in high school, many years ago, I played lead guitar. I wasn’t bad, but felt I wasn’t going to get much better. In college, due to the lack of an amp, I sold my guitar. A half century passed without me playing guitar. Recently I began to feel that I wasn’t watching too much TV. I also happened upon the Roy Orbison Black and White Night concert and I began to think about taking up the guitar once more. At 75 that’s a bit of a challenge, but because I didn’t have any arthritis in my hands I thought, why not? Life’s too short and we should enjoy it while we can. So, I ponied up the dough for a Gibson ES 335 and a Boss Katana Artist and took the plunge. All I needed was a way to get back up to speed. As part of my purchase, Gibson made its app available. You can get it whether or not you buy a Gibson guitar. Since it had been so long since I played, I decided to start from the beginning. Quickly, I was back to my old form. In fact, within a month I surpassed my high school level of proficiency. While I’m no Eric Clapton, I am improving with each session. The app is great for fundamentals, helping you to put in place the building blocks necessary to get increasingly better. I liked the app so much i recommended it to a friend who was also considering taking up the guitar. If you want to learn to play guitar the right way, this app is your friend.

Absolutely love this app I have already learned so much! My only suggestion would be to please 🙏 please make this compatible with AppleTV! And Also the Vidami Blue (foot control for video play/pause, back, forward, speed, and loop)! This would be an absolute dream! I would have to give six stars at that point and Seven if you partnered with Berklee College of Music to add Optional buy-in additional certification and certificates course credentials. (If you have any questions or would like additional suggestions in the future please contact me!

I’m really enjoying learning with the app. I like being able to play along with songs I enjoy while learning. It makes it so I don’t feel completely inept and helps me see my progress.

I started playing guitar using books and YouTube channels and after a while ventured into the Fender app. Didn’t love it. It was good but seemed very basic and I was by that point already beyond most of what it contained and taught skill wise. I found the Gibson app at the suggestion of a friend and haven’t looked back! This is very reminiscent of guitar hero and rock band in terms of how enjoyable it is. There are a lot of options for skill progression and guides and the song selection is more my style. I have improved so much quicker since using this app. And they keep adding kore songs and guides and even adjusting the courses to add new lessons and song examples. Keep it up and I will keep subscribing! My kids love it too and can’t put it down!

This app is lots or fun, and it’s the first time I’ve felt like practicing more because of it. I actually feel like I’m progressively getting better at skills I’ve struggled with using other apps. Customer Service has been helpful as well.
  • Pretty Sweet but….

This is a great learning app for people that like that Guitar Hero style of game. However it’s far more than a game and really has the learnability down for visual learners putting the concept in a linear format. However, I am disappointed in the music and artist collection. I currently have the trial famous that they tease you with the yearly subscription. It’s maybe a good start but within an age of tech giving us all a vast variety of music to discover the collection they have is microscopic. With that said this is truly a quality application and I think it would be worth the cost if they included the famous with the $124 yearly and you really can take advantage of it and put the time in. I’ll likely not renew due to the lack of famous music not being included and subsequently the cost.

I decided to pick up guitar at 44. Maybe it’s just another part of my midlife crisis but I love it. And this app has been a perfect support. I did the trial version for like a day and I couldn’t believe all the content and how well it was put together. So the next day I bought the full paid version for a year. And the day after that, I bought all the licensed music. Absolutely phenomenal for a first time learner. And the person who was teaching me and loaned me a guitar to try out has been playing for 20 years and he also loves the app. I never had this much fun learning the saxophone when I was in school. And I love how I can challenge myself or just take it easy and relax with something simple.
  • Great App, needs a little refinement

I love this app and its is entertaining and educational. A couple of suggestions. First, the app needs to be better explained in the beginning. What is the difference between two and three stars? I would also like to see a score on 50% speed and 75% speed. The scored wouldn’t count towards advancing but would give me a barometer if I’m ready to pay full speed at a high accuracy level
