The most powerful safety app for today’s world. Download Citizen to feel safer at home or out. Get real-time safety alerts and live video of incidents happening near you, updates on natural disasters or protests, and know if your loved ones are near a dangerous incident. Plus, 24/7 access to a trained Protect Agent who can help whenever you feel unsafe. Citizen notifications have urged people to evacuate burning buildings, deterred school buses from nearby terrorist attacks and have even led to a rescue of a 1-year-old from a stolen car. Citizen may notify you of a crime in progress before the police have responded. It's meant to protect you and your community — please use it responsibly. NEW! 24/7 access to a trained Protect Agent who can discreetly help, silently monitor your live location and audio, alert other users, call 911, monitor heart rate through your apple watch and more. No situation too big or small. See friends on your Safety Map: Know their safety status at a glance and find out if (and when) they are near a dangerous incident in real-time. You can turn on Ghost Mode to keep your location private at any time. Real-time Safety Alerts: Location-based notifications help you avoid potentially dangerous situations. Live Breaking Video: Watch live video of an incident unfold from different angles or broadcast live from the scene. Keep Your Community Safe: Report incidents right when they happen to protect the people around you In case of emergencies, Citizen also offers the Protect subscription to help protect you and your loved ones. What happened to the app being free? When the app came out, it was free now you gotta pay to use it why?

  • Good interface and concept, but why do we have to pay for safety?

Like everyone else has mentioned, I was under the impression that this app was free to use in order to keep yourself and your family safe. At first I was pleasantly surprised to see that they notify you for just about anything—from sex offenders living in your area, an armed robbery just 3 miles down, or a fire that’s broken out that you should be wary of. But once you actually tap on the incidents to see more detail, that’s where the usefulness ends. You only get a vague sense of where the location of the incident is because they need you to upgrade to premium to listen to the police radio clips. You can’t adjust the map to only receive notifications from what’s happening around you without paying for premium. And it seems like once they report an incident, we don’t know what happens or if cops even arrived on the scene. So overall, a really great concept but it’s utterly ridiculous how we have to pay for our safety.
  • Used to be great

The platform and pay for program just isn’t worth it. It used to be a great site to find out what was going on in your neighborhood. Like all greedy developers they end up alienating their customers and a competitor comes out. Hopefully a competitor develops a similar app soon.
  • Another pricy subscription

It used to be great for local information but now with their recent updates you need to pay in order to access any information on the app. This app was great because if you saw an incident (fire, car accident, etc.) you could post a video or comment, but because of their new paid usage, most users have stopped updating local information because they aren’t subscribers, so if you do subscribe monthly there will be little to no updates depending on which city you live in. I live in a small city that would have a lot of daily activities updates on incidents but now there’s almost none, because there’s simply not that many subscribers.
