purchased it last december and it worked fine but now the keyboard still shows up in other apps but no longer translates. seems i must give the keyboard “full access” which allows all past and future keyboard use unrestricted access and ownership. NFW i’ll do that. good idea to have access in other apps but not if they want me to give all my personal and private data (the terms say even banking information). big disappointment. removed it from my phone with 6 months still left in my subscription.
  • Woefully poor translation app despite the AI hype.

Poor translation app unable to keep up with the natural flow of conversation and riddled with errors.

I’m in a big open room and then speaking Spanish. I want to hear what the speaker is speaking but it doesn’t even work while I’m here. It’s not recording what they’re saying up on the stage. It’s like you have to talk right into it and it. Listen to someone who is speaking on the microphone on stage.

This company does not list the languages it translates from/to until AFTER you subscribe. Beware!

I started with a weekly subscription but kept hitting a daily limit. So I went to the annual subscription. Still a daily limit??

UPDATE (a few minutes later): So it actually does translate in real time without turning the microphone on and off; you just have to give it time. I also like that you can turn off the speak-back feature. BUT, if you’re trying to watch a live event, (Formula 1, in my case), the engine sounds drown out some of the narrative. Also, if no one talks for a while the microphone automatically turns off. The one big improvement would be for the app to keep the translations like text messages. As soon as you press the microphone it deletes what it’s already given you so you can’t go back and read what you might’ve missed. Other than those issues the app worked really well, honestly better than any of the others. ——— This app works better than Google Translate and another app I downloaded but you have to keep turning the microphone on and off to get the translation. I really wanted to get the translation as it’s being said. I’m missing part of what’s being said (on the tv) when I stop the microphone.
